People like to beat up on this guy a lot.
Firstly,
In person he is actually a really nice guy, secondly if any of you are ever lucky enough to play on the same bill as the man you will find that the clubbers are really up for it and will be responsive to a lot of the warm up DJs too.
Whilst Tiesto may not be the most technically sound DJ out there he has a following and does have the ability to generate a totally rammed club. Something that most of us are still struggling with.
It's easy for us to crucify our idols when we get bored of them and this is wrong. Most idols crucify themselves these days without our help.
With regards to producing, sure his skills are in question a lot, but the man has sold more albums than you or I, so what does he care. He is living our dream.
Put your money where your mouth is and get busy with your own , and prove to the world that you deserve it more than he does.

So let me get this right. You're pissed at us for laughing at somebody elses joke? You probably are a saint in its purest form. I bet you never laughed at any joke about someone else. Seriously, this video doesn't even deserve a well meant reply, it's just that low, it isn't worth the fuss.
For those who care about what's actually being said:
Tijs: "I made this track on the computer by myself. I started making music in '96. Before '96 I was only a dj, and I really wanted to be able to the music I was spinning. So I dived into music production and slowly bought the parts/instruments for my studio."
Interviewer: "Can you read written notes"
Tijs: "No, I've learnt it in the past when I played the flute, but no, I can't read notes anymore. It's not really necessary to be able to read notes anyway. I do it all based on what I hear, everything I do is done on musical instinct. That's why I don't think it matters if you make music with a computer, guitar or a piano. It's purely about the musical feelings/emotions you want to express towards others."
It's kind of rough, and bad english too probably, but it should cover all he has said in the earlier montioned video. |

Nah, I think he's also basing this on the fact that many people bash Tiesto (outside of this vid), and for purely objective reasons. |

that's one of the con's coming with fame. Good luck trying to stop;).
Surely any person with common sense would stand above the accusations made imo. He's got all the success he could possibly wish for, what would he care if someone is being an ass about him. If I would have made it that far, I surely wouldn't care, neither pay any attention to it. |

That's kind of the point I was making in a round about sort of way.
And yes as Ministerio was stating it's more related to the general bashing he gets.
At face value the vid is funny and I must admit I laughed too.
But I never said I was pissed at anything, that's the dangerous thing about reading tone of voice into writing but it's easlily done. But I do think if people spent half as much energy revelling in the demise of others as they did on their own achievements we would have a much healthier scene. And sure, I know that is part and parcel with fame, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.
Perhaps I did get a bit to into one, but I have been around long enough to know that these threads deteriate into a bash anyways.
Perhaps my post was slightly off point, in which case my apologies. :)
You guys should know by now that I'm not really a ranter.
Cheers

| I think every1 is really just pissed that he plays lots of vocals these days, (eg tears of the moon) huhhhhh makes me shiver armins the same then again some of you might like that stuff, so good for you. |

Whilst I have defended Tiesto I have to admit that I don't like where he is at right now, and this is true for Armin also. And it is probably time for a new generation of DJs to take over, well that's what I'm hoping anyways he he.
Cheers

This is probably the most wise post I've read on TA in my long years here. Great one Nemesis. We've all bashed Tiesto but wouldn't we all want to be where he's at right now? He's living our dream and we tear him apart because he's successful and we're not. It's true what they say: success breeds jealous. |
