Dual Screen on FL Studio

Anyone here running FL Studio on Dual Monitors? I am planning to get myself a second screen but first I want to know if/how it works with FL. It would be nice to have for example the playlist on the right screen and the sequencer/plugins on the left. Would this work?

It works, but poorly. At least as of version 5 and on my particular machine.

You can't maximize it to both screens, so you have to restore it to a window and stretch it across both... and usually, the plugins/synths/etc. pop up to the extreme left (mostly off-screen) and you have to try to grab it to pull it to a place where you can see it. It doesn't remember window positions and tends to move my play/start/etc. buttons down a row when I start the program. It's incredibly annoying and my biggest gripe thus far in regards to FL.

That being said, I still prefer it to working on a single screen. :)

Like I said, I still prefer it to a single screen. It's an annoyance that you learn to deal with. It may also have to do with my own display drivers, etc. I'll see if I can duplicate the results on another machine and get back to you.

That would be sweet, thanks!

Dual screening FL Studio demo right now, and it works great. VST plugin windows appear where I left them last (if I drag them to the side and close them, they'll reappear on the same spot next time I open them).

The non-resizing issue has to do with the setup of your display driver. nVidia drivers can set both screen to act as one large screen, so then maximizing the window works. If you don't like that, the you can drag and resize until it fits, and that's no problem (as long as you don't click and drag the FL studio logo in the corner)

Once you go dual screen you'll never go back... unless of course you get a 32 inch plasma or something :D

Where is the setting for "don't open uselessly off the screen for no apparent reason"? I couldn't find it in my nVidia control panel. :-P

I tested this with my laptop + additional screen, and stuff wasn't opening off screen, which was nice. It didn't remember synth positions, but I assume if it does that, it does that when you save... and I was using the demo version of v7.0 to test, so I couldn't save anything. :)

Anyhow, I'm sure you'll be fine. My problem is probably specific to me (or to version 5).
Subtle
I would recommend a software called "Ultramon"

It gives you loads of options especially when running dual monitors

Did I miss it or did no one mention detaching the windows?

FLstudio has a this option since v7 to detach any vst, playlist, piano roll, mixer, etc..
Once detached it ca easily be moved to a separate monitor, maximized.. So there is no need for streching the FLStudio across 2 monitors.

Kick ass... I wasn't aware of that.
