I also think that these guys are doing what's best for them. I mean they do this for a living, so they need more and more people listening to their albums and coming to their shows. I didn't care much for psy years and years ago when I first heard their songs, and to be honest as a non-psyhead it didn't get my attention. But their IM album got me hooked. I've seen them 8 times now, and of course now I can appreciate their older work too. With their IM The Supervisor album I've gotten 5-6 of my friends to give (mainstream)psytrance a chance and maybe one day they'll appreciate the twisted melodies and the crazy fx :)
These guys are trying to make a living, which is understandable. We'd all like to believe musicians should do it for the music and for the love of the fans, but we all have bills to pay.
I, like many others, loved Heavyweight. Holy , those psytars are perfect for becoming insane (no pun intended) ;)
Overall, I do hear a lot of the same sounds and tricks used in their IM the Supervisor album, so nothing totally new.
All I can say for now is, I hope they get rich and that they can achieve their dream of working with the likes of Madonna or whoever it is they wanna work with now. These guys have given me lots of great parties and tons of beautiful music. I'd still pay to see them next time they come to Canada :toocool: |
Yeah I don't hold any of their new aspirations against them. I never truly EXPECT anything from an artist or band, that's just stupid, and like I stated they had been moving into this direction since two album s ago, so this arrival was inevitable. I have been listening to the album more and more getting to know it, understanding it. And strangely enough it's starting to click with me more. I still have my qualms but even some of the tracks I initially disliked I am starting to bop my head to Artilery lol.
I don't think that money is a primary driving factor. I do think they love what they do and that they are having fun following their musical goals. I think when people see an artist make a move from being more underground to more commercial they start to assume they are selling out to get more money etc. I think for some artists that may be the case but I don't think that's the case for Infected Mushroom, at least not entirely. My only support to this is what I stated several times prior, they had made their intentions clear from day one about who inspired them and who they wanted to work with and anyone who has a brain knew that perhaps one day they would work to make it happen. Good for them!
No matter what kinda music they are pumping out their live shows still make me go insane and I would still travel accross the U.S. to go see them. They are coming to Atlanta in the summer, def won't miss out on that :)
Bottom line for me... Infected still rocks. They have been changing over the years but they still have a quality to them that can find it's way into me and make me happy.

Special Place is excellent...even g-units i know like the track |
I like Special Place but this song is a huge ing TEASE! aT 2:42 the track starts building and building then at 2:57 it really starts to build and getting me excited. Finally at 4:01 it drops and goes into a very oldschool, almost "Classical Mushroom" style melody line which gets me very excited. The vocals come in and they aren't bad, kinda catchy and they work just fine for me. BUT BUT BUT, here is where the song makes me wanna punch them. At 4:46 it starts to build again, this time with vocal fx... it builds and builds and builds and I'm about to die in anticipation because I can feel a GREAT Infected moment coming at the climax, then when the build explodes at 6:01 it simply just thwarts us back into the vocals again just accompanied by the kick and bassline... no driving guitar, twisted acid synth lines, no epic crazy climax, just vocals. They missed a great opportunity to go nuts. It's like a blowjob without the ending... that's just WRONG. |

:haha: :haha:
I'm hoping someone makes a remix of Artilery, with just the parts Amit is singing... i.e. completely remove the hiphop part... it's got a great melody and they can really make a heavy track out of it. I keep going back to "In Front Of Me" for some reason, something about it makes me wanna listen again and again :)
Vicious Delicious is reaching a psweet little climax right now as I'm typing (at 5:32 into the track)... God, it makes you wanna get up and jump around *Marco looks around the office... boss gone, check. Coworker sitting next to Marco gone, check. Headphones firmly attached to Marco's giant head, check. Ready to throw down a couple of psexy moves, check*

| Dammit Dan, now every time I get to the 6:00 minute mark in Special Place I start laughing, when I should really be pissed that they take you up high and drop you back down without letting you at least flap your wings a little :( |

I'm sorry! It's so true and it needed to be said! Dammit Infected why don't u finish us off! ...ok that's taking things just a BIT to far, lol.
And yeah I def do like the singing part in Artilery. Listen after listen the rapping gets less annoying but the lyrics still make me wanna point and laugh at the guest MC's... These guest MC's are speculated to be members of a hip-hop group called "Swollen Members", but it hasn't been confirmed yet. The hip-hop beat isn't bad in the song, but the MC's just need to shut it.
And I too keep going back to "In Front Of Me" but by the end of the song I am sick and tired of hearing the line "I fall into a hole and I can't take no more" it's way overused the song is in need of some sort of change for the finale of the track. But for what the song is, a pop-ish track with guitar undertones it works out quite nicely. |

Yeah, definitely.
I let my girlfriend listen to a few of the tracks (she's not into psy at all) and she liked some. Her brothers are musicians too, and they love their heavymetal, so she was like my bro would LOVE this stuff. She liked Suliman the most out of all the tracks. But she was kinda surprised that I could listen to something like Heavyweight and enjoy the sound. Yummy psytars have always been dear to my heart :) |

Not too fond of this album…you cant even call this psy trance. I don’t really know how to even define their music now, electro rap, psy rock lol…no idea.
I didn’t find even one incredibly inspiring track on this album which was a shame, there were a few tunes in there that I did like:
Becoming Insane – gotta love the vocals and classic guitar riffs and also its one of the only tunes in the album with a good heavy solid beat to it.
Artillery – lovly vocals probably the best tune in the album IMO.
Heavyweight – Netz demonstrates great use of electric guitar.
Suliman – also has a nice solid beat and some nice guitar riffs.
Rest is crap. |

These guys don't need to be categorized or “defined.”
All I have to say about this album is that Duvdev is a weirdo...
Everything I’ve heard from them has grown on me and I think this new phase in their evolution will as well. I honestly can’t imagine wtf they’ll do next… |

I would agree with this because they can't fit into any category anymore. Erez and Duvdev are both very talented artists. I played with them back in 2001 in Dallas. I was amazed at Erez being able to play a lot of the synth lines live. This was back when BP Empire was released so they were still very much psy-trance, especially since they still played a lot of the tracks from Classical Mushroom. I don't care for any of the music that they make anymore, but I will always respect their talent as artists. They pull from many different influences and that allows for a wide range of people to be considered as their audience. I wish them well in their health, but I still consider them to be sell outs. |
