Hi...I was wondering what you guys think is better...
make more proggy style influenced trance or
make more melodic style influenced trance or both.
Just want to hear some opinions on this matter.
I mean I like both styles but not sure if I should
emphasize one or the other in my my music. :D |

my advice is to quit worrying about it and make whatever YOU want to |

Make whatever comes out of your brain. creativity is creativity. I'd prefer writing a track that doesn't fit any genre descriptions. |

You can have prog and melodic in the same song. Prog just means the song has a progressive structure - it builds and builds and builds up to a climax then tails off at the end of the track.
Unless you have a different definition of prog to me but thats the way I tend to see it. I tend to think that Trance is necessarily progressive. Its when it breaks and drops loads and has massive 2 minutes of breakdown during a track that it loses the hypnotic groove that the music ceases to be Trance.
I say go for both if thats what you like. I like both too so thats what I like to write. NASA does some really good melodic trance which is all progressive so you might want to check NASA out for some ideas. |

This really isn't even an issue you should be concerned about. |
