I arrived at Pub St. James around 8:00pm with my friend Paul. I was hoping some TAs might go there beforehand but I didn't happen to see any of you while I was there. So we started getting sauced up a bit and were tingling from anticipation. around 9:30 we left to get in line outside Tribe only to find that there was no line. The bouncers said that doors opened at 10 so we headed back in for another drink. 10:10 we head back out and the line has formed. I was about 15 people from the door and stood there for 45 minutes! What the hell is it with trying to get into this place? I know there couldn't be more than half capacity, but the bouncers still weren't letting anyone in and didn't say to anyone about why we were standing in the cold for 45 minutes while the inside remained nearly empty.
So nearly 11pm we finally get inside, check our coats, and head to the bar for a drink while Spooky sets the tone for the night with some nice choons to get peoples heads bobbing and feet tapping. after about half an hour the place really starts to fill up.
Now I guess it's just me that had a tremendous problem with how incredibly packed Tribe was. Dancing, for me at least, was out of the question once Sasha came on. I haven't been to very many Montreal clubs (only Aria and Circus before last night) but I have never had such an incredibly hard time even holding my ground let alone getting my arms up for a fist pump or two. Spooky dropped a dope opening set and I was having a great time for a while, said hello to a few TAs (Val, Julius, Erika, Selma, Jesse, Greg and Malek on his way out the door, good to see you all) but once Sasha took the "decks" I went for a drink and got stuck at the back for most of the first half of Sashas set, where it seemed no matter where I stood, it happened to be in the middle of crossing traffic. Getting pushed around on both sides for an hour just started to kill my mood, same with my friend that was with me, so we left around 1:30 out of frustration. Is Tribe always packed to the like that? If so, I don't think I'll be coming back because the music that was pouring out of that incredibly sweet sound system made me want to dance like a lunatic, but I could barely bob my head :(
Regardless, Sasha was solid (what I got to hear) and Spooky was a perfect opening for him. Wish I could have stayed for the whole thing as I had been looking forward to this night since he was first supposed to spin Dec. 28th, but I'll find a way to catch him again in a hopefully less crowded venue.

all i have to say is wow
this is the 1st chance iv gotten to post since the fact, going to work the next day was assrape with a sandpaper condom. Its taken this long for me to recover, saing that i was drunk would be a large understatement, wich is awsome as i rarely afford myself that pleasure these days. As you all know, when Sean Walsh is in the house, everyone gets up. Hes just a bad influence on everyone and i vote that he is banned from TA.
The product of his evil mind is apparent in those pics of me, i blame him for everything.
Musically, best night in a LOOOOONNNNNNNGGGG time, Holden's got nothing on Sasha.
Will post more later when i ID some of the tracks, if anyone can remeber the name of the last track he played, id be very greatfull.
Only regreat of the night... beeing too drunk to remeber who Kate is. :( |

don't worry you'll get used to it. This is MTL.I've seen tribe more packed than this and it was still not bad (for sander and for digweed) |
