+1 most of the time when I'm trying to mix flawlessly I've realised I was only doing it for myself. :p

just got back from the gig and it was a blast. played for an hour and i did pretty well. i met the owner who told me he wants me back in may-july. pretty exited about being wanted back. only downside was the mixer which i wasnt used to. it was a Rane which doesnt let me listen to both channels at once which is how i mix. but i just cranked the booth monitor up and that did the trick. thanks to all who gave their imput!!!

You used the master/cue blend knob? Damn, I hate Rane's ... I'm not used to them either.

Rane rotaries don't have that.

And if it's their first model, you can't even cue two things at once in the headphones (they have a knob to select which channel is cue'd in the phones).

This is why you REALLY need to learn to mix using monitors.
