Im getting bored with my setup and want to add a new "toy"
Something i can use in a live environment, during recordings, and just playing around with to impress my pets.
Ive been looking into samplers like the sp-404, soundbite XL, and the electribe series stuff from korg. And of course the kaos KP3 and pio efx have caught my eye.
I guess my question is which unit will connect best with my setup, consisting of a xone:92, 2xtechs, and 2xcdj-200's. Im a noob with connecting external stuff to mixers concerning send/return, aux, and all that.
Thanks for any info/opinions. |

most anything will hook up correctly.
the Roland SP-404 is not that good. a friend has it. unless we're both idiots, it has no auto-sync to BPM. perhaps you can do it thru MIDI, but we haven't done that, and still, most MIDI beatclocks on mixers aren't that good.
if you're looking to sample/loop only, consider a Cycloops. those things are really easy to use, and they're always on beat.
for a full on FX box, i'd have to say Pioneer EFX. the 500 if you can't afford the 1000. both good. still, try to give em a test-drive before you purchase. perhaps go to someone who rents sound/DJ setups for parties, ask how much to rent an EFX for a day. shouldn't be too expensive. |
