Agreed. Also depends what you want your stereo to play.. are u just talkin about head unit.. or U going to get a full system?

lol the only reason i have heard of them is cause in sacramento a lot of people have ty kragen or walmart stuff.
and the headunit is the meat to the system. unless your going component you need nothing else other than speakers. |

Soundstream used to make some brillant gear, circa 90s...currently their lower (budget models) are so so, but their high end range are good.
Pyle i would definitely stay clear of, even if somebody gave one of their products to me i would refuse.
Alpine and Pioneer make good headunits and reasonable amps. Most of their speakers still sound like though with the exception of Alpine's Type X range which is alright.
It's only Alpine's F1 status and Pioneer's Carrozzeria line i would class as fantastic.
Are you looking at only a headunit or are you looking up to setup a whole system?
If a whole system tell us your budget and what music you mainly listen to and i'll help point you into the right direction. |

I remember back in the high school days when Soundstream had the SPL160 15 inch woofers, omg they pounded.
But these days I don't know much about car stereo . I'd prefer Alpine for a head unit/amplifier and JL Audio woofers. |

alpine does not top Kenwood...i think the best ones are Pioneer,Panasonic, Kenwood... |

just the head unit...i want to get this
but i am going to wait till the avx33 comes out with bluetooth..but its going to be around 550. I was looking for an alternate..I want something with a nice LCD screen and plays DVD/mp3 discs.
And i listen to EDM music only.

the only kenwoods that are good are the excelons. those arent exactly in the same bang for the buck range. last i remember the cheapest excelon was $600. you can get quite a good alpine or pioneer for half that easy. :)
tc: i have a Pioneer DEH-680MP. it plays mp3s, does both sattelite radio types, has an aux jack on the face, and can connect to an ipod easily. the new model the 690 has some enhancements on the mp3 player capabilities that i would recommend over the 680. |
