Looking for a cheap and reliable way to record sounds. It also needs to be able to hook up to the computer Via Usb.
I haven't contributed anything to the community yet. And I'm hoping to release free sample packs of ambient, and anything else I can get to make a sound :D |

Sure man, have a look at the boss br somethingorother. Its the new little handheld one thats the size of an ipod and everyone's been raving about. Alternatively, there was a zoom one that someone posted around here recently, also handheld. They're both reasonably priced from memory. Looking foward to the sample packs if you get round to it!:D |

No. Digital voice recorders are the worst possible devices you could buy to record sounds. |

Welcome to pro audio.
It is a love-hate relationship which involves a lot of love, and mountains of hate. And even the hate... we love--- if that makes sense.
Buying gear is all about patience. Don't impulse buy, and grab a piece of recorder. But don't take MY word for it on the suggestions I just gave you. Keep shopping around, be patient, and save up to get something good.
Good luck man.
Can't wait to hear some quality field recordings from you.

You can find the R-09 on ebay for like $330. Not cheap, but it's GREAT. |

Creative makes an mp3 player with a line-in that can record mp3's at 192kbps
They're like $50 or something like that.
I use one to record my DJ sets when I'm out someplace that I can only bring something small.
I believe it's called the "Zen" |
