| the main question i have is, how long would this comp be running, would it automatically end after so many entries from the candidates were sent in? ie: 20 mixes, with 2 mixes per person max and they have to choose their best to be judged or is it just going to be a free for all and see wot happens? |

well... first, wed have to take time to decide a certain tracklist, or useable tracks. then, there has to be an allotted time to acquire these tracks (especially for vinyl junkies like myself)...then a time period to make the mix...
my guess is that it'd be free for all, and we'd see how many people would be interested. so long as people are interested in the idea, we can tweak it and have a v2.0 or something if the first run doesnt go exactly as desired.
but id say one entry per person. or per round or however we'd set this up.
another idea... multiple rounds, with different tracks per round.. (on second thought, idk. vinyl = pricey.)
but we'll see... |

| Hey I'm still pretty noob to mixing (got the gear in December) but this would def allow me to get some constuctive criticism and pointers, so I'd def be up for it! |

| ii see where u're coming from as far as cost for vinyl users... only "way round" that would be to use popular tracks that most are likely to have, tho that would probably not be the best suggestion... just cant think of another way lol |

yeh i would be down for this. Only suggestion i could think of would be say pick 30 tracks that could be used and then tell ppl to make a half hour mix.
So then they could use some of the tracks or do live mash ups withthe tracks and there would be a lot more variety in the mixs.
btw what genre would it be? |

| this could become really big, cos now u mention it... what genre? not everyones going to want to do breaks, not everyone going to want to do trance, or electro, cos everyone has their own way... It will prob have to be split up into several categories, and as said above, pick 20-30 tracks from each genre and tell who ever is entering to throw down 30 mins of pure gold and send it in! |

Yeah. Gotta have variety of genre. I personally prefer techno if the purpose is to show off your mad mixing skillz instead of tracklist.
Also, pick tunes that aren't popular, but good. So people find some new tunes and not the same stuff they've heard before. |

Cracking idea. Well up for it.
And if the vinyl users can't afford it, well that shouldn't hold us CD users back.

| This sounsd like a nice idea, we should start naming some tunes and setting different categories. |
