I was actually listening to some of Sven Vaths older sets, like 1994-1995 or so and it sounds very minimalish and electro to me, even though both genres are huge now. Of course his 1997-1998 sets were just straight out hard techno, but theres def. lots of cross over between what was hard techno and softer edge techno back then that goes to show its always been around, just not as big as it is now though.

I went to ticketweb for PVD in the park, and it says 21+...what? I always thought CP events were all ages...or at lest 18+. Maybe someone can tell me this is just a gaffe on ticketweb :)

I got a reply from Made, it's just a mistake on Ticketweb :) :) :) ... If anyone can PM me the discount code for 8/17, $35 instead of $40, it's in my email somewhere I must have misplaced it, from the Made Weekly list. If not it's ok I guess, i'll find it eventually.

skip it. this aint' your daddy's PvD. this one has ADD and rarely plays any track for more than 60 seconds. annoying! :whip: hated all that mangling and mixing and ableton live crap. I respect creativity but hate the fact that some of the tracks we all know and love were not given an opportunity to "blossom". all in all it felt like bumping uglies on X. satisfactory without release, leaving you completely bummed out... and that's if PvD decides not to bang out Techno for most of the show.

gah... add to that rediculously long bathroom lines, possibility of rain, overpriced ty brooklyn brewery beer, expensive food, "OMG PVD let me stand by the stage like he's a R0CKSTAR and just wave my hands" - not much reason to be there. Like someone said - it's all about afterparty.. skip the Main Course, go for desert.

sorry. had my PvD fan badge but turned it in.

pretty harsh. Perhaps you missed his last gig at crobar where he absolutely tore it up. I don't think he received a bad review from anyone.

I have been a PVD fan since i got into the club scene. His Central Park shows are a tradition for me at this point, so I will be there for Friday's show.

and yeah, its definitely worth it to go out for the after parties.

more info tba....;)

Carl Cox? then woudl that really sell, techno freaks in New York, by the looks of you have to be mega crappy trance DJ or house one to have it sell. I don't see Carl Cox ever doing something like this.

You missing the point go back and look at the past Paul Van Dyk Central park threads starting from 2003 to 2006 its should sum it up what EMC^2 IS TALKING about and then tell me what you think. His gigs from NY clubs to Central Park are different.

didn't he have a dummer play along side him last year as well..

oh how the magic of these events have gone literally down the tubes.

they need something new in this city because frankly, everything gets played out...

maybe we should bring it back to the pier when s&d played at the VMAs

Not harsh at all. To be honest I agree with most of what he said and he said it well. I do go to these events and I do enjoy them but PVD doesnt contribute much to that. Its hanging with the TA's that make it fun for me. All PVD does is provide the background music.

if u are drunk enough, go watch him and wait till he plays filo n peri's new single "anthem"

thats one hot emo-bomb and makes pvd worth watching, but be sure to get drunk before, otherwise u'll have a hard cheesy time for sure :stongue: :haha:
