Some of the things they call "techno" is like me calling Pink Floyd a hardcore metal band. Most images that the media portrays about EDM is in a flamboyant sense. I have nothing against gay people, I'm not a homophobe or whatever it's just that the media has created this vibe with EDM that it is a very flamboyant genre to listen to.

Which to this day boggles the out of me.

I think this might have alot to do with the disco backlash. In the conservative south, bashing disco was in, and no one wanted to have any kind of association with the image after that.

just chase the bitch down with a boombox & laugh at her, yelling "haha, ur gay now!!!"

Dance music doesn't do any more to make you gay than rock does to make you straight.

She's just an idiot.

no, I'm not gay, btw.

Please read this before posting comments. I am an almost 22 year old male who has, for the past 4 years gotten into techno/trance and see it as my particular genre of choice. My friends girlfriend and others I have come into contact with always think I am being "gay" or commenting that techno is only for gay men. I know this can often hold true, but for the hell of it I wanted to create this poll just to see. No offense is intended and I have nothing against anyone that is homosexual, I just want to see the numbers. Thanks

This is now a meme and a copy pasta.

The gay scene was always willing to try something, er, outside the norm. That's part of the reason dance music took root there. It was something innovative and different.

The unabashed hedonism of gay nightlife also played a part. Some early house would have made a hooker blush. The rhythm oozed sex on purpose, and you couldn't get the same frenetic dirtiness at the pace of disco.

It's really too bad that the gay scene is such a shadow of its former self. Circuit house stopped moving over a decade ago, and now it's just a sad joke.

I couldn't care less what kind of people are involved in the kind of music/scene I like. What difference does it make? I'll happily party with gay guys - Often they know how to party better than anyone, and without as much bull involved. Ok, you get hit on sometimes, but what the do I care? I take it as a complement, ie. I'm not an ugly, feral loser. A simple "Sorry man, I'm straight" and you're sorted.

I'm willing to bet that most of you have hung out with gay people who you thought were cool as . You just didn't know they were gay. If you found out they were, would it make a difference?

Not gay, but I listen to techno-music and take E 24/7 and dance with glowsticks in the dark.
