Hello......i've been accused of hating many many deejays by none other than special k. So because i feel he is wrong....i'm starting the non bashing deejay thread. So name your TOP 3 DEEJAYS BUT YOU MUST STATE WHY you like them and coz he rocks does not cut it. So i'll start.

1)Paul Van Dyk - Great Mixer with loads of energy and throw in his remixes and productions during a set. You got one amazing deejay
2)DJ Tiesto - Great Mixer (except that Haoman 2002 set)with great productions and bundles of energy. Add his remixes in and him dancing like a loon around the dj booth, you got one great time.
3)Sander Kleinenberg - I heard bad things about him about ultra but i saw him 9 days earlier and he totally rocked the place. He is able to seemlessly mix between genres, very good mixer and very good producer again. He is a very smart deejay, i prefer when he plays the bangin house stuff like Impulz 2001.

So ppl name your TOP 3 Deejays and why!......remember don't flame other ppl's deejays

1. Matt Hardwick: excellent mixing skills, plays all the prog-trance stuff i like, really deep or uplfiting sets which always go with my mood, heard him live 3 times and he's never failed to dissapoint me! underrated but it doesnt bother me! :D

2. DuMonde: technically not superb DJs. but great guys, get the crowd going well and play ALL the tunes i like, specially a lot of their own productions and other german hard trance like cosmic gate and SHOKK. seen them twice, great DJs if your looking for atmoshpere rather than deck-tricks :)

3. Armin: good technically and plays a lot fo good tunes, plays the more progressive style of uplifting compared to, for example ferry corsten (who i also rate highly). seen him twice and the second he blew me away with an amazing set. with an superbly flowing set, and created an awesome atmosphere which was as always, destroyed by none other than tall paul. reccomended to anyone for a good all round trancey style! ;)

I want to cite livesets to use as a refrence point.

To me PVD creates a ton of energy in his sets. It isn't just that his music is phased right, there is something else about how he places his transitions, and where breaks go. He is in complete control of the music. PVD explores more generas of music and can mix them together to form a whole. When I listen to PVD it's to get me motivated to do my Calculus 2 homework (ACK!).

I see Tiesto as playing more of the music that I want to hear. I wouldn't say that he is commercial; his track selection is different. When I listen to Tiesto it's because I like alot of the tracks.

Sometimes I think progressive can be bland. I have to be in the mood to it. When I really sit down and listen to DJ Astrid I really like it. Being a 18 year old male I sit and imagine her behind the decks smiling at me. Hmm, maybe that's why I like her.

Well im gonna have to stray slightly from the norm cause some of mine arent DJs...

1)Carl Cox - dont especially *like* his tunes, or the tracks he chooses individually, but for a party you wont find another DJ with more energy and a banging go-ing-insane vibe.
2)Tiesto(or)PvD - put both together cause sometimes Paul tickles me right, while sometimes tiesto is just ON. PvD would be great live, but his productions often lack something. tiesto can produce pretty damn well - while spinning interesting tracks, often with lost of energy.
3)BT - not a deejay. possibly the best show i have ever seen tho. His tracks were mixed while he played the synths and changed it all up. his productions are genius. the crystal method could (possibly) go here too, BT is just more my style, but they threw down too when i saw them.

again, all my judgements are limited to experience, mostly beyond livesets(its not the same). my relatively poor geographic location isnt helping either...late/

1. DJ Tiesto - Technically not great but his track selection and his new style tend to amaze every time. He is the master when it comes to remixing track with vocals (silence, flesh, southern sun come to mind)and when he teams up with cor, armin or ferry he is a dream

2. Scot Bond - Gotta give this dude credit for his excellent track selection, innovative with little cheeze + he can mix very well

3. Paul van Dyk - Technically the best trance DJ, track selection is quite amazing. His productions are very nice and he has mixed the best trance album (PoD) ever!

4. Armin van Buuren - Amazing producer, amzing DJ and a VERY good radio presentator, and his remixes are pure 100% gold

5. Paul oakenfold - Amazing innovation, his new style really appeals me, however his productios (not counting southern sun) have gone down the drain lately

6. Matt Hardwick - His essential mix was great, his GCSS set was amazing, waht more do you need from tis amzing upcoming talent

7. James Holden - He blew the roof off at innercity, without him I wouldnt be the progressive lover I am now :D

1) Johan Gielen - He really suprised me at TE2002. I was expecting a rocking set, but he blew me away and played so many of my favorite tunes (godd, pulsar, awesome, twisted, ect). His mixing is flawless, and I just really love his style

2) Marco V - Has been in my top 3 list constantly for god knows how long now (well before mysteryland). His tracks and sets are always fresh and have a style all their own.

3) Armin - I just love his sets and productions.

Hmmm This is a tough 1, I wish it were the top 5 but it’s your thread...

#1. Paul Van Dyk - Because just about every song he spins he reworks in someway. It’s funny how you can hear a track being played and think its great then hear PVD spin the same track but then it sounds sick..
Throw in his unmistakable detail for every track being played and his remix's and you have yourself arguably the best DJ in the World! IMO

#2. Tiesto - I think that Tiesto has been doing an awesome job producing tracks as well as mixing them. And come on I've never seen a DJ love the crowd participation as much as him. He truly loves his fans and music in general.

#3. Marco V - Some may argue but I feel that Marco V definitely has chosen some of the best track selections around. He is a fantastic mixer. Also a style that’s like no 1 else's...

Yes, I do realize that I have AVB as my Avatar. I just Happen to like the pic... Him as well but not 1 of my top 3.

Sue me! :0)
