Are there other (cheaper) places to stay, or are you pretty much stuck with Miami Beach Resort & Spa?
Forgive my ignorance, but I've never been to WMC, or to Miami for that matter. I don't know how it's set up.
Just thinking about next year... |

If you don’t want to rent a car, then it’s wise to stay at a hotel in the heart of South Beach, that way u can just hop in cabs…they are everywhere in South Beach. It's pretty dumb to rent a car to be honest because there's NO parking and lots of traffic during that week.
During wmc, the prices of hotels obviously go up. Most of them are boutique hotels and are fairly nice, but overpriced. There’s also holiday inn and other hotels of that caliber, but they are a little farther north on the beach…not like RIGHT in the middle of the action, but still…a 5-10 min cab ride away.
Or you can get a hotel in the downtown area too…lots of clubs and events going on in that district too.
There’s downtown, and then there’s the beach. “South Beach” is actually a couple of causeway drives away from downtown Miami…it’s annoying to go back and forth and even though it’s right there, it’s a bitch with traffic going to the beach from downtown, especially during wmc. So if most of the events you plan on going to are in downtown (that’s where club Space is), then I guess you should stay in the downtown area. But if most of the events u are going to are in South Beach, then definitely book a room in South Beach and plan on just walking or taking cabs. Cabs only if you stay in downtown Miami because some parts of downtown Miami are shady with lots of cracked out bums n . lol wouldn’t want to be walking around there at 5 in the morning. South Beach is a little different…evyerone’s walking around cracked out at all hours of the day/night. Haha

She is right on with this. Not only is parking a complete ing joke but most clubs you will be hitting are an easy walk or short cab ride from any hotel in South Beach.
And if you have a car and are staying on Ocean Drive be prepared to be ed in the ass for $15-20 a day for parking at the hotel and there is a 0% chance you are going to find any kind of spot on the street to park as an alternative. |

I drove when I went, here is what we did. I picked up a rental car for a one way rental and dropped it off at Miami airport. We took a cab out to SB, I think it was maybe a $20 ride. Then when we left we took another cab back to the airport and picked up another rental to drive home. None of my friends going could afford airfare so I got ed into driving but I wasn't about paying $200 in parking fees for 10 days for a car we were never gonna use. |
