bassline stereophase?

I'm wondering if it's ok to stereophase basslines? I'm using 3xosc to get some great bassline sounds but those only come with playing with stereo randomness. I'm afraid that the bassline may sound too wide...but listen and see what you guys think.
Sample (Right Click)
Thanks! |

There's no mixing police telling you that you can't, just be aware you're mix will become more complex. But if it sounds good, then it sounds good.
Just make sure you highpass your bassline as usual.

took a listen in mono
the bass end has some weird phase effects. Can't really tell if maybe you are doing something to the kick in the stereo domain or perhaps it is the bass but it sounds weird. I would definately keep your bass mono. I just don't think you will gain anything by doing a bass like that in stereo. |

No one uses mono anymore. It's not a big deal like it used to be.
If you're really worried about it. Then don't widen it as much.
EDIT: I guess I should clarify.
MONO is important if you're making elevator music.
But aside from that... meh, stereo bass isn't a big deal. ME personally. I still use mono bass. But if it's not "hurting" anything in the stereo field, I simply wouldn't worry about it. |

| i just don't understand what you would achieve by using a stereo bass in dance music. Seems like setting yourself up for a huge headache. I just don't see the logic in doing it. The kick and bass have similar roles in dance music. Would you apply stereo phase to your kicks ? |

Are you crazy? Stereo phasing on kicks sounds weird.
Srsly.

Because it might sound cool. |

and it also sounds weird on bass. The only time i would even consider doing that to bass would be
A : not in EDM
B : on a bass that is more of a synth line than an traditional bass. |

no weird as in thepeople dancing will wonder why the the bass is always cutting in and out. |

| Think about room modes also; adding a little stereo modulation will counter that effect of walking through the room and hearing the bass response change. But just a little bit. The most stereo in bass I add is -18dB underneath the mono signal. |

| chances are it would still come from a mono system so those variances will just result in deconstructive interference. |

Stereo effects on bass and yes, even kick drums can sound just fine. If you split the sound into two different groups, one mono and one stereo. Highpassing the stereo one and lowpassing the mono group.
There's actually a VST effect that does this automatically for you.

In my opinion completely mono basslines sound boring (Atleast in melodic trance). |
