Greetings All,

Anyone into Dark Ambient? I came across a site awhile back that was really unique and trippy, to say the least. Lots of free mp3 album downloads of their work. Here is an example:

http://mp3.wp.pl/p/strefa/sciagnij/98512.mp3

Their site can be found here:

Thought some of you may be interested in checking this out.

Enjoy!

And of course you wouldn't be associated with this site in any way. You just wanted to register and make your first post about it out of sheer enjoyment.

oh well, pardon me. im not into labeling music or styles.

Lustmord - Black Star is pretty in' heavy. One of my favorites by him since quite a while back. The genre as a whole doesn't really cut it for me though. I need rhythm.

And lol @ Aphex Twin being dark ambient... no dice, bwoy.

The genre did not have a single pioneering musician or persons who invented the term or genre, it somewhat evolved on its own, similar to that of the IDM genre. The roots of dark ambient can be seen in several of Brian Eno's early collaborations that had a distinctly dark or discordant edge, notably "An Index of Metals" (from Evening Star (1975)), a collaboration with Robert Fripp that incorporated harsh guitar feedback, the ambient pieces on the second half of David Bowie's Low (1977), and Fourth World, Vol. 1: Possible Musics (1980), a collaboration with Jon Hassell. source wikipedia

Therefore I can deduce that Richard D. James was greatly influenced by dark ambient electronica. If you are interested to see where im coming from, listen to this album and please tell me if the influence from Eno and Fripp is not there...
