It says postage costs to canada cost 7 pounds...small packets.

What's a small packet? 5-10-15 records?
Jason Q
A SMALL PACKET IS WHAT ROYAL MAIL CALLS A PARCEL. IT IS 1 RECORD.

7GBP is a joke to ship 1 lp I've bought a lot from overseas specifically the UK, most I've ever seen on a package of 1 lp was 5.25 gbp...and that was airmal.

Prices ranged from 3gbp -5.25 gbp.

I would recheck your prices
Jason Q
I've paid £7.00 GBP postage from Europe !!!!

If sellers are charging such low rates on postage it won't cover the Ebay / Paypal fees.

Each to their own.....If you don't wanna buy...Don't buy.

1 pence for a record is cheap......... in anyones book.

..not with the shipping

anyway I'm just saying maybe u should look around

Yeah I know what your saying.....

The trouble is you don't get enough shipping options on Ebay anyway...It puts too many countries in the wrong shipping band.

I'm starting to lower my costs to North America.

I agree with you Ministerio & fetish909. It only costs about £3 ish to send to USA for one vinyl and then obviously each additional record would add on a lot less.

Personally i think £3.75 postage per record is taking the piss. It costs £1.40 second class, £1.70 first class for one record say £2.20 for 2 1st class and so on. i really don't think it's good ethics to put records on at 1p but bump up postage. Obviously it's up to people who sell them how much they want to put but realistically this is how much it really costs. Sorry if i'm coming across rude here, but it pisses me off and out of principle i'd rather not buy the item due to people just sticking stuff on at 1p calling it a bargain but overpricing postage to compensate.

I'm really not having a dig but i don't get what you mean by too many countries in the wrong bands, as far as i know (and i do have 777 feedback on ebay) that there's basically 3 bands

uk to uk
uk to europe
uk -worldwide

which is why on my ebay listings for instance my shipping is usually £1 extra to europe and £2 extra to usa.

Jason Q
Yes UK to rest of the world !!!! That's what I mean...It's puts USA / Canada in the same price range as South America.

If you think you can post a record for £1.40 then your living in cloud cuckoo land.

Here's a breakdown (UK to UK) on a record which sells for £3.00 :-

Postage (1st Class RECORDEDED) - £2.58
Ebay listing and FVF fees app - £ .45
Paypal Fees - £ .37
Packaging Box,Tape,
Fragile Labels,Printer ink etc.- £ .35

TOTAL £3.75

Then I have to go to the post office post the damn things.

A record costs £1.40 second class within the uk and £1.70 first class approx, mate i have almost 800 feedback on ebay, i know how much the post office charge and most people generally have record mailers lying around the house as most djs buy online therefore this is why i don't mention this. Obviously i'm not saying you should sell it for the exact £1.40, but £3.75 to the uk or $14 per vinyl would put anyone off, regardless of whether you're selling the record at £5, 50p or even 1p. A fair price for me would be for a record to the USA about £4 ish (i sell mine for £4.20)

It costs the same as far as i know to usa/canada/japan anywhere else. Im 99% sure that posting to japan is the exact same price as posting to america as to australia. On royalmail's website i have just checked pricing and sending a small packet airmail etc is the same for both worldwide zone 1+2 so it's the exact same price regardless of whether it's jamaica japan or usa.

There is no point in my opinion sending vinyl recorded as you are covered up to £32 on regular mail. For instance a book went missing in the post which cost 20 odd quid and i got it all back plus my postage and this was with no insurance whatsoever.

This is what i'm saying postage is postage not ebay fees otherwise under postage rates it would say postage, ebay/paypal fees.

I'm not trying to have an argument but merely pointing out that i feel like the other 2 posters that your shipping charges are excessive and the things you mention like tape for instance everyone has stuff like tape in the house for general stuff, i mean if it really does cost this amount then people like me who sell a 12" for £2.20 postage would be in effect literally losing money, which we clearly aren't.

Good exercise mate :)

If you have a look you will see that the majority of ebayer vinyl sellers do not put postage at the rates you do, so clearly the majority would not agree with you.

Right now i have in front of me a proof of postage which i kept for returning 2 records to chemicalrecords.co.uk (for a mess up on their part), with 2 cardboard stiffeners inserted at 0.586kg which cost me £2.20 to send(if you really think i am lying or living in cuckoo land i can easily upload my POP).

I really don't want to get into a debate on postage pricing but the facts speak for themselves http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=400347&catId=400036 and the fact that as i say most people do not charge postage like you do, so clearly that tells you something.
