How can I make rolling bass like this ? I know how to set notes in piano roll, but I have big problems with: Sound, which Vst to use, EQ, Effects etc. I trying to make bass like this, for long time, but i cant, dynamics arent good, and bass sounds weak... :(
Im using FL Studio... any tips? maybe someone could make example flp file ? |

This seems like rather basic sawtooth bass to me, although I dont know about the second one. I can not exactly recreate them, but I can help you to give your bass a similar rolling character..
First, the notes in the piano roll should look like this K-B-B-B-K-B-B-B, and so on, you probably know. Now play with the volume of the single notes. Dynamics are the key.
A good VST to recreate these kind of sound should be Audiorealism Bassline, use the sawtooth wave, then play with the cutoff and filter envelope.
About the EQ, well I try to make the kick and the bass share as many frequencies as possible, the trick is to separate them EQ wise so that the kick stands out enough without isolating one from another. It is a bit of trial and error but pays off when done right. Sometimes compressing and limiting kick and bass together can be very successful for that purpose too.
About other FX on the bass, I am not sure, I rarely use any FX apart from EQ/Compressor on my bass, besides I dont think it is really necessary for this kind of bass. |
