I said mainstream news and that's what americans get and they think it's fair, balanced , free and open. Well, all the media in america is corporate owned and mostly close ties to the government and they all have an agenda and most of their agenda is pro militant and aggressive minded. They cheered for war on Iraq just like they cheered on the war on Serbia but not anymore because America doesn't control the situation anymore.
But as far as Iraq and anywhere else , it's completelly outside of the realm of reality and people just have no idea what's going on because they are told one story repeatedly and anything contradictory is omitted . |

i seriously doubt your original point was that concise b/c you linked the BBC and whitehouse.gov and the frikken Disney channel:rolleyes: but whatever
i fail to see any connection between what the MSM presents as far as glorifying war and the latest poll numbers showing how many Americans want out of Iraq. the MSM been anti-Iraq since the day after we toppled Saddam and not long after we couldn't find WMD's
all i think you've done, really, is force your feelings about it on us with little regard as to what others might think. thats fine. it's an open forum. but don't think for one f**kin second you have your finger on the pulse of what us Americans think about the war. |

I posted those websites in jest as you are likely to find the reality of things there as you are from Disney. Clearly they have a set agenda to fill and to cover up anything that might put their war effort in the open during and after. This is exactly what they've done against Serbia and later on Iraq. Hence, most reports nowadays from Iraq are just like weather reports with no details let alone images of death and destruction

The glorification has passed indeed, American officials and media have realized recently they can't win a war anymore so they are about cutting the losses and minimising goals.

Nowadays , about 30% of American public supports the war and about 50% of politicians as opposed to 80% and 90& respectivelly from the beginning of the war. I disagree with you that MSM was against Iraq war at any time until very recently when they started to question if military victory is possible . If we question why this drop occured , we can deduce that it's from a simple realization that this war can't be won militarily and not because it's unjustified or has destabilised entire iraq and the area and has created terrible civil war with the power struggle in iraq
I am forcing the issue since it proves two things and I am fed up with . The invinicibility of American army is a myth where Vietnam war will be looked upon favourably . They are an aggressive force built to overwhelm not trained to defend themselves since such are their missions.
As for American people , I can say from personal experience and my sister moved to Alaska 2 years ago , ok it's not real America , I can say that most people are well meaning , educated and open minded . The problem arises with the media and the government which is controlled by special interests who push for wars, not against "terrorists" or any direct threat to America since they are hard to get and often a good excuse but actually against states and peoples for some economic or other nefarious gain . ThiS is the world we live now and it has rendered UN for one completelly useless since it is supposed to stop the wars |

Any arguments you make about how you "know" what the American populace thinks are totally debunked by that sentence as you obviously don't know as much about this country as you think.
I was never a supporter of this military action by the Bush administration, but you claiming to speak for the american populace with your constant glorifications of the death and injury of military personnel and civilians is pretty disgusting.
Those bombs that destroy U.S. armored vehicles also kill and maim a huge number of Iraqi civilians, but the suffering of those innocent people means nothing to you does it? How many civilian deaths is the destruction of one piece of military hardware worth to you? Ten? Twenty? Fifty?
