It's because they're probably using Chinese green tea at a Chinese restaraunt. In China, they roast their green tea. Japanese green tea can taste grassy because it is unroasted, especially if brewed too long

a tea ball costs anywhere upwards of a couple bucks for the cheapest models so if someone gives me that "omg I don't have one" crap I'm going to beat them to death
