Hotel Boutique Thursday March 22, 2007
Deko ze and Vinyl Junkies
Started with a few drinks and got there at exactly 12 AM. No line up. Somehow didn't pay cover either. Nicely sized but intimate venue. Having Lawler at TiL fresh in my head, I can say the speaker quality clearly wasn't as powerful, but of course plenty for some serious dancing. Can't say much about the DJs as I lost track of who was on the decks, other than the music kept everyone grooving and got especially solid once live to air on 100.7 started (2 AM I think). Drinks were about $6 and my wallet definitely took a beating. We left around 3:30 AM (work on Friday!), but the scene was still going strong.
OVERALL: Would definitely go back. A fun Thursday party.
Opium Lounge Saturday March 24, 2007
Lady Royce & J-Prez with Coop Deville
Wanted a cozy place to dance late night. Started with a few screwdrivers (as always) and made it to Opium for about 12:30 AM. Super friendly bouncer. The one room venue was emptier than I expected at first, but the music was on. CHEAP drinks ($4) made a few bills go a long way. Lady Royce ripped it up and it is always nice to see a lady with such talent work the room. Friendly scene with a number of out of country party people. Comfortable chills on the 2nd floor patio. J-Prez had a wild electro remix of "Annie Lennox - Sweet Dreams" and a few other old school tracks. Started to empty around 4 AM.
Cover: $15, $10 with guest list
OVERALL: Cheap drinks! Friendly staff. Could have been slightly busier, but on the positive there was plenty of room for our crew to dance. |
