Midi Gate Insert in Cubase - Not working?

I've followed the Midi Gate Help in Cubase to link the Midi gate to an audio track, but the Midi isnt triggering anything, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I thought Cubase might just be error'ing because sometimes the MIDI dosnt trigger a VSTi until u re-add or reset the track but this dosnt seem to make it work either.

Can you hear the audio still?
Have you assigned the gating midi notes to the midi gate?

Your not soloing the audio track are you? As you will have to solo the midi track too if you want to hear the effect.

You may also need to adjust the attack/release rates to hear it working.

Ok I didnt play with the Gate Knobs enough - Its working!

Hope to have some fun with this...I've always thought Trance uses too much Gating but I've given in and hopefully can come up with something original still using the gate technique.

THanks flutlicht

If it sounds good, do it. Forget about making something that is generic and like everything else that has to go by certain rules. Just make what you think sounds good :)

how does midi gating work?? i dont quite understand..you have a midi channel with note connected to a vsti so the notes are playing..then you creat a new midi sequeunce and put notes here..these note cant be heard but will turn down the volume of the first midi sequence????
