This summer, I am coming to visit the great city of England for two glorious. I depart early May and return late August. I`m currently trying decide the best locations to live in London. I was wondering if most clubs are located on one street or a certain secular. For instance, In your experience, are most clubs located in Zones 1,2,3 or some where else or are the clubs spread all over the place. Specific secular names such as Farington or Soto Hill would be helpful. Furthermore, is there any websites that post underground parties or raves.

There are literally hundreds of clubs all over london, the tube system makes it incredibly easy to get to them from anywhere in the city. Fabric and Turnmills are in Farringdon next to each other, and that's where the biggest trance night is on a friday.
www.dontstayin.com and www.harderfaster.net are the 2 biggest clubbing/social networking websites around, HF is specifically for people in London. Just sign yourself up on both of those and check out all the clubbing calendars and get the emails. Great way of meeting people as well who are into the same kinda music. |

England is not a city, its a country. London is the city ;)
Most clubs are spread about the inner city (often under railways so are often not right in the centre).
Main areas where clubs are:
The City (in London the city refers to the old original bit, also known as the square mile, in the US this would be equivalent of CBD particularly like Wall St in NYC) - Fabric, Farringdon
The West End (this is the "entertainment" centre of London, ie shopping restaurants, some clubs but most are very commercial) - Heaven, The End
Kings Cross - North of the centre, includes: Canvas, The Cross, Egg, Big Chill, Koko in Camden isn't too far away
Hoxton (to the East of the city) - Cargo, Medicine Bar, loads of others that I've forgotten
South (in a big arc to the south of the river there are clubs at)
- London Bridge (SeOne complex, lots of clubs)
- Elephant and Castle (Ministry of Sound)
- Vauxhall (Hidden and some others I forget the name of)
Most are in zone 1/2. if you are looking to live near to the clubs probably best to base yourself in the east or southeast, BUT, these are probably the two worst areas. London has very good night buses and the undergournd starts running at 6am so good time for when leaving clubs.
Hope that helps :) |

Pacha is AT the Victoria station, literally across the street,
though I've never been there as it's just house nights.
I live 5min. from Elephant & Castle (SE) and I can tell you it's
a good place to live if you're considering it, close to riverside,
close to center and still cheap for London circumstances.
It's a border from center and south, latter I wouldn't recommend.
If you're in town may 11th I'm going to Turnmills, it's looking
like Armin will be playing so we can tag along. |

You're wrong. London = England.
Or so you would think from that amount of cretins abroad who are only interested in London for clubbing. |

| I know this next post is a bit off topic, however, your insights would be especially helpful. I am considering where to live in the city. In your opinion, what area's are most disirable. I want an area that is cost efficient but also has number of places to work; aswell as entertainment. Furthermore, I want to live in an happening area, where people my age(21) dwell. Do you think where you live in the city is of little importance because of the excellent public transportation system? I largest fear is that if I live in zone three it will cost me a bundle to get to zone one. I still trying to figure out how much it cost for public transporation. Furthermore, if any of you know individuals who are renting flats and are looking for roomates for about 10 weeks let me know! Have any of you been around this area "Russell Square Underground Station?" If anyone wishes to discuss this matter further, here is my Aim: XjustXblazenX and MSN: [email protected]. Thanks, all your information has been helpful. :D |

Are these the worst areas because of soaring crime, expense or something else? |

used to live and went to uni just round the corner from there.
Positives:
Very central
Nice area
Negatives:
Very very expensive, I doubt you'd find a room for less than £140 per week
Not much happening, not many ppl live in the immediate area so not exactly "happening" |

I'm off to Pacha this Friday and yes its right next to Victoria station apparently. Will report back but its just a house night.
In terms of where to live in London that's a hard question, its so big and vibrant you could live most places and feel the vibe. There are certainly areas where south Africans and Australians base themselves, but not so sure about north Americans.
Public transport is actually pretty cheap these days with the electronic oyster card.
Oh and it will cost you alot wherever you live :) |

Crime, South London can be a bit dodgy, I have family who live around there and think it's alright, but it has some very nasty areas where you need to have your wits about you. |
