hahaha...I shouldn't labelled him as trance. I mentioned his name because of how succesful Heaven has done with their parties that are not on your typical friday or saturday nights...I mean when Heaven announced Benassi was spinning on Valentines day..they had to book another show on the Saturday juss to keep up with the demand. The show on Wednesday was $15 and the party on Saturday was $30. Both events were sold out.

last year, David Guetta and Bob Sinclair played a show on Tuesday for Toronto Film Festival. They were still asking $60 for tickets :P

On the other hand, Kool Haus (I think? maybe TIL?) brought Carl Cox on a Wednesday. I heart cheap, mid-week choonage.

Next month Heaven booked Farina, Dj Dan and Bad Boy Bill all on a Friday night. :)

I give Heaven security all the props in the world.. they weren't even susceptible to my grease job attempt for the sold out Benassi gig, unlike those greedy Guverment knuckle-draggers :p

short review.

I liked the club, it is small and dark.. not a huge hassel at the doors to get in, but by the end of the night there were cops in and out of the club all over. The sound system in the place is also very good. And I like the 2 levels in the club as well. Although at times it did get a little too hot in there, but that is to be expected in such a small place.

Whoever the resident DJ there is was awesome. He had the play rockin, so by the time Preach came on around 130am the place was packed and ready to rock.

I liked Preach's set. I didn't love it though. I suppose my expectations were to hear harder banging techno, but I ended up hearing trance, hard trance and tech/trance. Nothing like what he was spinning the previous times I have seen him. He did have the crowd lovin it though and I suppose it was more catered to the crowd in Ottawa. I was up and down throughout his whole set. There were some parts where I couldn't stop moving and others when I just chilled instead. For those who know me, know that says a lot about a night for me.

Either way, I did have a good night out. It was nice to chill with my best friend who is living there now (my first visit to see him), plus introduce his friends to a new talent/style of music. They wanted to check out earlier though and I had to bargin with them for a leaving time.. haha. I checked out at 4am before Preach actually finished. It was a successful roadtrip in the end though. :)

that sounds almost exactly like the review I had for Markus Schulz.."up and down" and "tech trance", etc. Glad you enjoyed the best Ottawa has to offer. Preach banged out pretty much all techno when I saw him at Heaven couple months ago.

I wonder why all the cops at le Sketchville?:tongue3

The last time I heard Preach was at Surface..heard nothing but hard techno beats from the beginning to the end of his set. Hard to believe he was playing tech/hard trance.

Then again when Chus & Ceballos played at Heaven the 1st time..they barely played tribal...it was mostly house.

maybe he's warming up for the Tech room at BeB (hope not). If he and SVD end up fluffing their sets... :whip:

Majikb, by the way, the opening dj for Preach was probably Etienne Ozborne.. he's really gonna make some waves if he continues to keep working hard.

Preach isn't opening. I wish. :(

that would be great but then again, we'd be all busted up before midnight :)

Preach played more along the style of SvD would, but a little lighter imo from the last time I saw Sander play. I suppose you cannot say it is hard trance, cuz some would refer to that as like Yoji style. So I will correct myself and say trance and tech/trance before I get corrected by anyone else :p

Yes, you are right; that is the opening DJ and damn was he good!

Etienne Osbourne "Oz"...he used to dj at small club in Gatineau called Lux-en-bourg. Great little for house heads. He suprised alot of heads when Neil chose him to be one of the resident dj's at Heaven when it 1st opened. I knew he would be very good dj if he had the chance to play in a bigger venue.

He opened for Clamaran a couple of weeks ago...he had the peeps pumped before Clamaran hit the decks. Hadn't seen Heaven like that in a while.
