Ozgur was nice enough to answer a few questions, enjoy!

1) Do you prefer to play big clubs or smaller venues?
They both have their own charm but hmmm… I prefer smaller venues!

2) How would you describe your current sound?
Somewhere between deeper tech house and tech house?

3) Over the last few years your productions have evolved so to speak. Your first releases had a more progressive vibe, lots of melodies, ambience. Your more recent productions are more techno-influenced. Talk about the evolution of your sound.
Yes, well I got sick of all that fluffy stuff I’m known for, it came to the point where people started sending me demos that sounded almost exactly like my stuff and I just got sick of it! I started going to more techno parties and just dug back into my older records for some inspiration. I used to be a techno head back in the day, its what I grew up with, so I went "back to my roots" a little bit.

4) As a European DJ, what is your impression of the NYC club scene?
I’ve only played in NYC once before so I don’t really know much about it to be honest. But when I played it was good, and I’ve heard some wild stories so this should be fun =)

5) How is the label going?
It’s going ok, we have 3 vinyls out now but we are going do only digital from this point on. We have some fat ass new stuff that will be released soon!

6) A DJ/Producer you're currently most impressed with?
I have no idea you tell me! I’ve spent the last 3-4 months just listening to indie-rock and alternative music so I’m not really so up to date with new talents to be honest!

7) Are you rooting for Sinjaya on American Idol?
I don’t watch that , not even our own Swedish Idol. I watch Entourage, that’s my favorite TV show and it just started again after a long break! =)

8) You just recently won the title as the #1 DJ in Sweden. The talent pool in your country is pretty massive right now...the Swedish House Mafia, Adam Beyer and Christian Smith, John Dahlback and Petter...how does it feel to have gained so much recognition in a relatively short amount of time?
Yeah it’s insane, it feels really good! I don’t know what to say really, I’m a happy kid!

9) For the aspiring producers out there, tell us about your own music-production journey, and how you were able to break through.
Well first of all its much easier if you know the "right" people like with everything else in this world. I didn’t really have that when I started out, but of course over the years I’ve gotten to know a lot of people in this business. I remember when I was unsigned and my friends started releasing stuff I was like , I need to hurry up and release something. That’s the biggest mistake kids do these days, they have all these producers on their MSN lists and have only been producing for a few months or just a year and are in such a hurry to "make it" and just turn out ty tunes.

I kinda did the same thing, I made tons of tracks with no soul or idea behind them, just pumped out ty tracks and hoped that one would get signed. But then I got in contact with the boss of Deep Records in Holland, Mr. Peter van Hal and he was the first one to take some interest in my music. I sent him everything I made and he was like "hmm no you’re not there yet." And I remember I was a little bit pissed, but over the years I understand what he was doing and I started thinking about all that stuff, and yeah well the rest is history hehe… When you start getting your stuff out there, it’s kind of a snowball effect or it was for me. Things just went on like crazy for me after I released my first 2-3 records.

10) Rumor has it you love the Captain Morgan's... do you secretly wish you were a pirate?
Hahahaha! oh dear..... Yes, I have this dream that keeps coming back to me that I’m in a nightclub and then all of a sudden I end up chillin’ on a Caribbean Island with Captain Morgan’s, just talking and getting drunk. And then I wake up… bla bla bla hahahahaha!

It’s funny how this seems to come back to me, its not the first time this happens in a interview or when I show up somewhere to play the promoters already know what I want to drink! They should sponsor me!!!
