Droid gave about a day's heads up for this event. It was a probably a last minute deal plus they just got back from WMC. Doesn't matter cause I'll be there tonight. Gonna be a sick-ass night with DNB in the main room and some gritty techno/electro/house on the side. I don't know how many more beatings I can take. The Rodney Ref beatings! :haha:
Here's his Essential mix goodness:

siiiiiiiiiiik there was so much bass from Pendulum and LE I have to go back to the dentist tomorrow because all my fillings came loose. :)
Radioslave tore it up, some tracks off his EM, some new basslines, it was wicked. Def worth going out on a Wed.
I just woke up too, that makes me feel like a million bucks.
Now I gotta go finish this database. |

Sorry for the uber late review. I had this lengthy review I wanted to write but I got so lazy I'll sum it up for you:
BAD ING ASS! RADIO SLAVE IS THE !
He played so many hot tunes, and there was about 20-30 people in the side room all night. Most of the people who went went for Bassrush, Pendulum was headlining with London Elektricity as the opener. Musically I thought this night was much better than Danny Howells, although not really comparable, and less crowded with a chiller crowd/vibe.
Some tracks I remember:
K3 - Play To Win (Radio Slave remix)
Trentemoller - Moan (Radio Slave remix)
Agoria - Baboul Hair Cuttin' (Radio Slave remix)
Like Chris mentioned, a bunch of tracks from his Essential Mix. Matt's set was pretty moody, ranging from Tech-to-Deep-House, Minimal, Prog, and even Ambient. At one point he was playing the most soothing ambient stuff - which almost put me to sleep and knocked Thrax out with a K.O. He played from 11:00-1:00, I think.
Afterward, we had a smoke with him outside the patio, discussed music, had a blast. He mysteriously disappeared during our chat, he had to take a call, we turn around five minutes later and he isn't there. He busted a Houdini on us. He had to catch a train the next day to San Diego for another gig so that's probably why he had to high-tail it. Matt's a really down-to-earth, mellow guy. It sucks how poorly coordinated/organized this event was. There was barely anyone there when I think he could have easily sold out a Giant event on a Saturday. I literally found out the day before the gig he was playing from a MySpace bulletin - pretty sad. No matter though, I had an absolutely sick time. Radio Slave is the !
The main room was crazy - deep penetrating basslines, it felt like the Northridge earthquake all over again. Pendulum and London Elektricity tore it up! It's pretty crazy how people dance to D&B - like cave men running from buffalo.

Hi there, I just found this bulletin and I have to agree with you, Radio Slave really did kill it!
He played a variety of music, just like you said. I think we got a good taste of what all his aliases sound like. He even surprised me when he dropped his mellow Quiet Village stuff, which I'm really into.
Wish more people would have shown up. We had been promoting this night for over a month for the Futurehouse monthly we've got going at Vanguard. Considering it was his first LA appearance, it turned out to be more like a "for the heads" kind of night. The room wasn't so crowded, but everyone there was feelin' what he was playing.
Matt had a good time in LA. He will definitely be back. With all the great music scheduled to come out on his label Rekid, I'm sure next time he's in town, more people will be out to support.
If you're into the Deep-Tech-Acid-Dub-Electro vibes, we've got a few other events you may be interested in. I will post details soon.
Thanks for the reviews guys. I look forward to staying in touch.
