Freecreditreport.com is being taken to court right now
for charging for an added "service"
Mentioned "service" supposedly lets you know of any changes on your credit monthly, funny thing is you're automatically signed up without being asked, so you pay $10 extra every month and not realize it until the bill comes... |

you know that every time you check your credit report, your credit drops a little? |
They changed that.
Also, WAMU lets you check it for free if you get their credit card.
and my loan amount is for up to 1 million :D |

ahh yeah that is pretty sweet. was unaware of that.
and yes it is a good chunk but when you think about it in relative terms its not that much money unfortunately. would be nice to be able to buy a nice house in california in a developed area for 500k again. :( |

I don't believe so. They said I wasn't going to get billed. |
did you cancel your membership? it says that if you don't cancel...you will be charged after so much time because they will basically sign you up for credit protection bla bla bla...

yeah exactly...there are lots of banks and credit card providers that do like this. they'll tell you...you don't have to decide today let me send you the information...then they'll add a little clause that says "please cancel this within 20 days bla bla if you're not interested" if you don't respond after so much time...they will take your non-action as acceptance of the program... |

if you have over 700, you're fine. you'll be able to buy a car, get a home [with a decent intrest rate], and should be able to up your credit limits on any credit cards you have.
i use freecreditreport to make sure all my is right - i.e. never been late [which, i've never been late on any credit cards, loans, car payments, etc... for the past 5-8 years], any address misconceptions, and other random personal identity stuff that i think should be kept on tap.
last time i checked mine was like 740 or something like that.
for those who don't have credit, or are thinking about getting some, all you have to do is get someone to co-sign on a low-limit credit card.
i had my parents do it when i was 17, and i got a capital one for $200. been adding credit since then [i'm up to like 20k or something total].
the more credit you have [generally speaking], the easier it is to get cars/homes/other large purchases. and if you have good credit, they'll usually give you a lower interest rate on things.
the idea, being that you won't be late, and you aren't a threat. if you have shiitty credit, you can get high interest rates because if your liability.
ps, no credit sometimes isn't better than bad credit.
regardless, sitting @ 700, you're good.
i don't think anyone has a perfect credit score anyway. even bill gates. |

| All my credit has come from my unsolicited Capital One card of 9.6% APR. Ive had it for 5 years or something and got 786 credit. Oh and I had an Amex for a while then cancelled it. Multiple lines of credit give you a better rating. |

true but if you have never had a car payment, even if you have had a credit card for 5yrs, your still a first time buyer and get ty rates. :( |
