Pfft, that's only because the management has a firm belief that Guv's capacity approaches infinity. |
lol that's a good one |

Thanks for clarifying that, I've been ed up over this forever. So many people have tried to tell me otherwise, eventually I just gave up arguing and started believing it. |
lol i can't believe you didn't knoiw that. 16 Bit Lolitas are huge in my opinion, support by every single house dj out there, their productions are absolutely amazing.. |

And I still think Andy Moor is under-rated. A lot of people have no idea how musically inclined he really is, not just as a producer but as a DJ as well. |
I kinda agree. Except for First Light, he hasn't produced any decent tunes last yr or so. (And for some reason, people who loved Air for Life didn't like them either)
DJ wise, yep. Andy Moor at Viva was a good night.

James Holden, although his most recent release was a bit of a letdown compared to his Balance cd, I still think this guy's productions are unique and exciting and I wish he would come back to toronto sooner rather than later. |
Nooooo.... I want James Holden producing epic prog trance again!

Yep. Dunno about his tribal tunes, but he's underrated prog producer.

yeah bro, Luke Fair imo is the most underated DJ I can think of... |
+1
Not a fan of his productions but his sets have been amazing. So versatile without losing focus

I wouldn't know, I've never heard any of his sets, lol |
If you like disco and funky house, check out some of his sets on his sig.
Speaking of underrated prog producers...
Chris Micali: I rarely think badly of his productions.
Luke Chable: Whether it's prog house or prog trance, just pure quality.
Both deserves to play in Toronto! |

Do differentiate between DJing and producing... A good DJ is not necessarily a good producer or vice versa! :)
I know I bitch about trance a lot, but these are few names that deserve some recognition production wise, IMO.
-Jesselyn: Hailing from Holland, not only she's hot, but she's got her own style that she can truly call her own. That deep rolling hard banging bassline... Awesome stuff. Check out Cyrus, Distance and Fauna (co produced with Marcel Woods)
-Luke Terry: if you fancy that hands in the air trance, UK producer (and a fellow TA) Luke Terry is one of those up and comers. Though he can produce uplifting and harder trance too. Check out Elude - Purgatory (Luke Terry's 2006 mix), Activa & Force One - Reflection (Luke Terry's Torn Apart mix) and Matti Kotala - Aedena (Luke Terry remix) which is available somewhere in the DJ production forum
-Super8: also part of Aalt0 w/ Paavo from A+B, this Finn's productions def. do not suck. If you don't believe me, check out Alba, Aalto - Resolution, Mirco de Govia - Voller Sterne (Super8 remix)
-Greg Murray: though haven't been active in recent years (that I've noticed) some of his works incl. Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams (Greg Murray remix), Arizona & Greg Murray - Daylight, Octagen - Curium (Greg Murray remix) and Pulp Victim - The World (Greg Murray remix)
-Danny Oliveira: up and coming Brazilian DJ and producer Danny Oliveira is starting to make waves in the trance scene, already pretty popular in his homeland of Brazil, but also starting to make way in to the Europe scene. His style of harder, more techier trance laced with the tribal/samba sound of Brazil is def. unique. With various remixes of Drop It, Your Love getting support from many of top trance DJs, he also produced a wicked breaks remix of Marco V - False Light. Check out also Gone Fishin (one helluva fun track) and The Will to Continue.
-Anne Savage: I gotta give more props to hard trance because it's such a dying genre. Well, Anne Savage is kinda hit and miss with productions, but stuff like Modularis (Phunked mix) DJ Boozy Woozy - Party Affair (BK & Anne Savage remix), Anne Savage, Vinylgroover, Red Hed - Pay Attention (Jumping mix) are worth a listen
-Haak: Norwegian producer who probably does not appeal to most trancers. His dark, more acid trance is good stuff, if you're into that sub genre. Well, Armin thought his production of Frenzy was worth a play few times. Also check out Bass Shuttle and Bedlam.
-Mike Shiver: Swedish producer who's stuff can be a bit cheesy, but still give you that euphoric hands in the air feeling. Morning Drive, Feelings (instrumental dub) and Sonicvibe & Mike Shiver - Lunation are all good tunes.
-Slusnik Luna: though not as prolific as many other producers, Finnish duo Slusnik Luna (note a pattern here?) is known more for their remixes such as Modulation - Spirits (Slusnik Luna remix) and Matti Laamanen - Flakes (Slusnik Luna remix)
-Matti Laamanen: yep. I told you that there's a patten here. Another Finnish producer, he's done good work as matti Laamanen or other aliases such as Sundawner and Cosmicman. Be sure to check out Sundawner - Krystal Dreams, Modulation - Spirits (Cosmicman remix) and Maati Laamanen - Flakes (Ferry Corsten remix)
-Mystery Islands: yet another Finnish trancer though pretty obscure. Fack. I do love hands in the air trance! His best works so far is Arizona & Greg Murray - Daylight (Mystery Islands remix) and Mystery Islands - Solace (Ronski Speed remix). Just thought he deserved a mention
-Orkidea: yet another Finnish producer... Wow. That country does not suck when it comes to trance. From classic such as Unity to more recent work Beautiful and Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea remix), he is pure quality
-Safri Duo: though seems defunct (their site hasn't been updated since 05), Danish duo Safri Duo has an unique sound of tribal... electronica I suppose. From anything from house to trance, their recognizable use of bongos just drives you on the dancefloor, or just drives you nuts. Check out Played Alive (Airscape remix), Samb Adagio for trance sound.
-Simon Patterson: UK producer Simon Patterson so far hasn't made anything bad... yet. From tunes like F16 (my tune of the yr for 06) to Without You (as part of Dogzilla), I expect a lot of good stuff from him this year.
-Vadim Zhukov: though he's kinda disappeared, he's one of the leading producers from Russia. He has a lot of good tunes under his belt such as Exit, Nothing Matters, Double V - Moscow Morning (Vadim Zhukov remix) |
a well thought out list, love it, some familiar names, others not so much, google here I come! |

The most underrated DJ's are your local DJs. They consistently rock out. Put in long hours honing their craft. Receive little compensation generally and really work hard to make the night one to remember for all....
Support your locals! :D |
