Which MIDI keyboard do you guys use? I want to buy one and am looking something nice and reasonable. Any suggestions? I am looking for 61 key and above in general unless there is something awesome for less...
Thanks :)
I could not search for any older threads...so sorry if repost. |

right now, i'm using a novation x-25. i love it... especially now that know how to use the editor... (stupid mouse -long story)
you can get a 61 note version but i went w/the 25 key version because i'm really cramped right now. my yamaha is still tucked away in the back of the closet, because i just don't have room to accomodate it.
when ever i get around to moving to a bigger place i will pick up a couple of 88 note keyboards... probably a pair of motif's or something... i dunno yet. |

lol...room is space is an issue for me as well...anyways about the MIDI: does the 25 key do it for you? I am getting paranoid if I buy a smaller keyboard...I might miss out on some key notes, even though it can be tweaked on Logic...but still |

I'm using the M-Audio Axiom 49, it's really solid and it has a lot of extra functionality that i'm currently not making use of. |

Check these out...
CME Midi Keyboards
I personally own an Axiom 61 but if I was to buy a new midi controller now I would check out one of those CME ones. |

Hey,
Thanks for the suggestions. I just bought my MIDI
Korg Kontrol 49-key, I liked the patches, faders and the knobs...

Let me know how that works out.. I'll be buying a board in the next couple of months and I'm just starting to check the markets out. |

actually 25 keys, works great for me... i don't have an actual desk where i can put my keyboard on top, and sit in front of it. i usually have my x-25 on my lap, w/my mpc4000 sitting in front of me on a foot rest while i'm chilling on my couch.
sometimes i would like to be able to play a fullsized piano. but i'm doing just fine playing melodies on my right hand in one pass, then record the left hand parts on the next pass. anyways, i haven't actually played piano in years, so my technique is caca (especially my left hand) so i guess i spared myself a certain level of embarrassement by buying a smaller keyboard, so my suckiness at playing is not as glaringly obvious as it would be w/a larger keyboard. |
