are you saying that events now a days are bad??? |
bad, no.
99-01 was the heyday IMO of the big rave events in SoCal - they regularly drew 20/30/40,000+ people for big events and they went till 6am at places like Indio or Disneyland even.
nowadays, the events usually end earlier and don't draw the same # of people and hence can't justify booking the same quantity of top talent. Only Ultra at the WMC compares really on a talent basis.
back then i think it was a bit of a 'trendy' thing to go to big EDM events and the media was touting EDM as the next big thing. |

Agreed with Cool1g. Nowadays, event promoters have a hard time with events that go on past 4, even 5 in some cities. Sometimes I cant justify going to a rave when it ends at 4. depends on who is playing at the venue too. |

oh thats what you mean. yeah i noticed that too. even im a newbie on ta ive been going at it for almost 15 years. and true to that the old days are different from now. well i still go even if the crowd is small, even if the talent aint that good like it was suppose to be. dont really mind if your a top dj or a up and coming dj. dont really mind at all if its huge event or not. old school or newschool we should just bring back the vibe that is in every event possible.
back to topic... Lovefest and NW. :D |

:p nothing has been announced. |
Fixed!
Edit: And seriously, would you rather to go the same basic massive setup that you can catch at other times throughout the year, or would you rather to go an annual yearly event with an incredibly diverse line-up and crowd, a parade, and ing excellent music that lasts 16+ hours, not to mention the pre-parties on Friday and after-after-parties on Sunday? |

| Oh I'm assuming once you see everything announced for the week and weekend of LoveFest it will be an easy decision. |

Hasn't Nocturnal Wonderland always been during Labor Day weekend??? |
it has been on Labor Day w/e for years so why would it change now?
on the Insomniac site, the info for NW is from last year.
I'm thinking NW will be on the usual w/e it has been on which means this year its 9/1. |

its not so much the lower numbers that fail to draw the talent, but DJ prices are much higher then 7-8 years ago for international djs. And much of the rave scene simply went into the clubs, that is why they cant afford to throw those massive parties...look at the linup for MM last year, what did that draw like 15-20
I remember parties like nation and hippie 2000 pulling more then that with headliners like DAN and Glaude
but honestly, NW...they have virtually the same linup every year, and all the big socal festivals seem to be the same every year now. You just cant top a sf trip with a trip to nocturnal wonderland.
see you sf |
