Moving out and need advice on the cost of living

I am planning to move out of the family home and into self-contained rented accommadation within the next 2-3 months or so, but am confused about just what I can afford.

Iam work for an employment agency which means that my working hours are very variable, anything from 20-50 hours per week. Even with a good 40 or so hours work in any given week I am only on the minimum wage so don't have a lot of money comming in.

Basically I need to know what benefits I may be entitled to. Could I still be entitled to housing benefit/Income support with my hours being so up and down? On the goverments webpage on Income support it states that I have to be in part time work to claim. Would they allow me to claim it on the odd weeks I have not worked over a certain number of hours? Also would I have to pay council tax or is that generally included the rent price?

Lastly I have estimated my utility bill to be somewhere in the region of £40-50per month and food bills to be around £140. Does this sound accurate?

Costs me about a grand a month with 550 mortgage then all the bills on top of that but I do live on my own so pay for everything. Dunno about benefits but unless you are unemployed or have a kid, I don't think they give you anything.

Think seriously before you leave home, you dont wanna have to go back :)

Just save up a load of money before you leave and you wont have a problem.
