About Eelke Kleijn

Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Eelke’s story starts at the age of 17 when he got his first job working at a music store. He spent the next 4 years there, and over that time he built valuable production experience by spending his spare time learning how to use the store's production equipment. Over this duration the quality of his productions were slowly coming together, allowing him to compile and prepare his first release.

In 2003 his first EP was ready, which was then signed and released by the new Segment Records imprint. Although the EP was a limited pressing of only 250 copies it still made it's way into the boxes of several major DJs including John Digweed and Seb Fontaine. Overall reactions were great, and to this day '4.5 Billion Years' is still a much sought after record.

In 2005, his ‘Deeper Depths EP’, also on Segment Records, got big support with Steve Gerrard including it on his WMC promotional mix. In addition it was also licensed to Andrew K's compilation 'Flavours.' Later that year his ‘Consequences EP’ on Noctambula Records also received good support from many including Sasha and Hernan Cattaneo, who also charted the release.

Towards the end of 2005 Eelke forged a variety of new production partnerships by teaming up in the studio with fellow Dutchman C-Jay and with old friend Nick Hogendoorn. These partnerships resulted in an influx of quality releases on labels like Tilth Music, Spinifex, Plastik Park and Cyber Records. On top of that some of his time was also spent in the UK working on productions with Stewart Keenan of Navigation Records.

Besides his work as a producer, Eelke is also credited as being an excellent DJ. His sets these days are as diverse as his productions, blending progressive, tech, electro and minimal house into a very distinct and atmospheric sound. Holding down a residency at Purple Snow events in Belgium, Eelke’s sound can be heard beyond the borders of Holland ever more frequently. Upcoming and recent appearances include countries such as Greece, Serbia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Russia, Romania, Lebanon and Jordan. Eelke has also enjoyed support from many of the internet radio stations including Frisky Radio, Proton Radio, and DI.fm.

About the PERSPECTIVES show

per·spec·tive (pr-spktv)
n.
A mental view or outlook.
Subjective evaluation of relative significance; a point of view.

For the past few years, electronic dance music and culture has been spreading rapidly across the globe. The world contains more DJ's and producers than ever before, but even with the growing number of electronic musicians these days, no two sets can ever be exactly alike. There are an infinite number of ways DJ's can approach the same music.

Perspectives is a show that celebrates diversity, diversity in musical styles and nationalities. The guests featured on this show come from all over the world, including eastern Europe, southern Asia, Australia, and the United States. They each come different lives and different backgrounds.

i love eelke kleijn

On a side note, I see that Fine Taste Parachute track got dropped...am i the only one that likes Midnight Clash? It seems to me that so many djs are playing Fine Taste tracks, and the only one not getting appreciation is Midnight Clash....that tune rocks me...granted, it has to be a certain sounding set to get dropped, but i dont think anyone is really playing it...I guess im wondering if I'm a fool for enjoying it haha

back on topic, will grab these! :)

Hey, I find Midnight Clash to be very catchy and I'm sure it would wreck a dancefloor. I just didn't include it in this mix, only had 60 minutes to work with after all. Maybe next time, thanks for your input :)

Mr. Epsilon, Eelke Kleijn, now? You always have my favorites on your show!

Used some other Fine Taste tracks on a mix I handed out last week and should have online tomorrow. One of the 1st producers I look for at the record store these days, lots of great tracks have been coming out beyond just My Golden Parachute.

Ben sorry for leaving early, I hope you played Right Said Fred. You will have your $100 payment as soon as there are signed statements from at least 3 witnesses who heard the track and everything is notarized.
