saw them in Houston a few months back and they were mediocre at best.
Maybe it was only that night but I know they are not as good as a few years back when I saw them multiple times in Austin and Houston. |

I haven't heard them live recently but the last few organized natures that I've downloaded have been average. It just seems like it takes them forever to build up to anything at all. They do have a few golden songs in there I really like though but it's painful waiting for it.
I can't remembered which organized nature set it was but I counted up until 40 mins into the set that something really caught my attention. |

I saw the same thing. There has been something missing since they create ON. It's almost as if they created this new direction and defined a particular structure (which to me sounds almost minimal at times) and have been rigid on following that stucture. When you have heard these guys for years and know the energy they are capable of creating, that antagonizes your expectations even more. They did the same thing in Dallas last time, but to a lesser degree. There was just something that was a little to "Hey Josh, listen to how creative and ecclectic I can be for the next hour" in their set. As a whole, I have not been impressed or inspired by Organized Nature, BigTop, or anything associated with their current productions. I don't necessarily wax nastalgic about the lot of commercialize tracks that got them to this point. I think I just expected them to build more sophistication on the sound they use to have. |

Your Avatar....is that Titus or Cloud from Final Fantasy? curious. I do find FFX my fav of all of the FF's. This maybe just because I'm a softy for those romantic stories *S* |

Hey! Damn, G&D kicked some major ass last night! And I thought there was no way they could beat last years show....but they did.
The crowd was crazy, it was a little packed, but it looks like with all the changes they made to 2505, there is a ton of more room. I could get around that place pretty well. It seems like the place isn't really finished....just has an unfinished look. The DJ booth is really set high along the left wall. You actually have to stand back a little bit to see the DJ's faces. But maybe that's because I'm a little shorty? LOL Oh well, either I was hanging out on the side of the stage or hugging the speaker out front.
And after 4am, the whole crowd was still there begging for more. They played their usual popular songs that are practically required to play. But I noticed a few AvB in there. They played their new The Killers remix of "Read my mind" and the crowd went in' nuts.
Still with all the fun I had during the show, there was plenty of fun all day long. I got to meetup with the guys and Josh's wife earlier that day and hang out (josh's wife is the freakin' sweetest!). They were trying to pick out a director for their new video they are going to be making for Tracking Treasure Down. Apparently some major European label signed it for a huge single release. So they are going to be making a music video. Was awesome to see what thought it went behind it, how they viewed director's videos and what they were looking for. I observed them making sure they had their set ready for the night, and watched Dave spend a while working on a new remix song of "Stop Me." (Which is going to be huge...I can't wait!) Dave flipped through Logic Pro like he was blindfolded, and I couldn't believe how fast he could make a ton of changes. I learned alot, not that I'm going to go producing music or anything, but it was great to get to see a behind the scenes look. Also got to be a first music screener for their new album they are working on for Andain.....AMAZING! Andain is going to take over this world, so just you wait. Beautiful amazing female vocals with beautiful music completely styled by G&D. You can tell G&D touched every song with thier completely deep style they have. They even played a couple of Andain's new songs at the show last night towards the end.
Dave had to go see the grassy knoll. Which I told him he'd be sorely disappointed, but took him there anyway. So he can check that out of his list of things to do before he dies. Got there, walked around.....yep there's the grassy knoll, there's the X's in the street....alright lets go. Then we all ate dinner, hung out, and headed to the show. Great night, guys! |
