getting that gabriel and dresden bass guitar sound

I bought a bass guitar and I'm trying to get that sound featured in gabriel and dresden - arcadia or gabriel and dresden - dangerous power
heres a sample if you aren't sure what tracks are those:

i bought a bass guitar


josh gabriel uses a bass guitar in his tracks

he doesnt use sampled bass guitar

he plays a bassline and runs it through effects

Well in that case get an amp mod like Guitar Rig or maybe cause you are using bass, Ampegs bass vst

that's your average organic bass sound. you can get that from just ing with eq's and throwing on a little reverb through your bass amp. sounds like you should turn up the mids and highs and cut the lows a little bit. use a pick instead of your fingers to get more of a staccato "plucky" sound (if you fingerpick it'll sound bassier/warmer). couldn't hurt to get a bass effects box or something. NI guitar rig is a little system-resource heavy so i try not to use it (unless you have a nice ASIO soundcard to run it through). hope that helps.

that's exactly what I'm looking for, an organic bass guitar sound

It sounds like they cut most of the low ends off and upped the mids more

I've tried using a pick, but it sounds too "slap-bass" like

I think they added a small attack to the plucks probably
