The conflict has already left 300 000 dead, there is a consensus that crimes against humanity have occurred, and yet no concrete actions have been lead so far. That just freaks me out.:whip:

It saddens me to read and hear about this. While all of the attention is focused on the Middle East, this crap is going on.........

I saw a documentary about this and there was a lot of news coverage a few months back.
Awful total genocide, the Sudanese government do nothing and literally aid the Jangaweed milita's to carry out such atrocities.
I've heard the relations between Sudan and Chad have been near breaking point, due too hundreds and thousands of refugees pouring over the border into Chad. |

Africa makes the middle east look like a kiddies wading pool when it comes to human suffering. :(
It'll not get fixed either, the UN never fixed it when they had the chance, they'll ignore it at their convenience as long as it suits them to do so. Not enough oil in Africa, tis our lot in life. |

But Darfur has little or no oil or other strategic minerals/resources, so I dont think Americans are interested at all in sending some of their troops here to develop democracy and try peace ;-) Plus we all know how democratic Sudanese government actually is
And we all know how piss-poor pathetic and weak UN actually is. If you actually paid close attention, you'd notice that UN only has succeeded and had somewhat support and development when directly supported by US government / military. Which makes it a tool of USA, rather than a serious force / global entity that can do something to help the situation. |

Southern Sudan has oil fields that I would hardly consider "Little". You fail. |

So you say that US forces would be based in southern Sudan instead of Darfur? You think that once Americans land in Darfur (west) they would be allowed to also place troops in the deep south? |

This is Africa. Africa doesn't get helped. Africa has been destroyed by European imperialism and now is feeling the consequences of putting different people in political borders.
You want to know why we haven't done much? Because ******S are dying. I'm sorry for using that word, but that is what how our government thinks. This is clearly a race issue. We had the choice of going into the Congo or Vietnam in the 60's. Both had rubber, both were going through a conflict, but the Congo was full of ******S! Hardly worth our governments time. Liberia? ******S! Rwanda? ******S! Our government does not help ******S! |

Man, I don't want to be right. I hate this whole situation. The whole entire continent was taken advantage of. Even the middle east and Asia was a part of the exploitation of Africans for the use of slavery. People took advantage of tribal rivalries in order to put them against each other. How could we be so cruel? How could we do such a thing to an entire group of people?
And now, the sub-Sahara region is going to suffer due to global warming. Desertification at lightning fast pace, and I guarantee millions will die in the next 50 years because we won't help. AIDS, civil conflict, climate change, racism (Apartheid)... Africans really have and continue to receive the end of the stick.
It's... not ... fair... |

| President Bush had a committee set-up to take a look at the problem which will maybe make a recommendation for policy in a few years. By that time, only a couple hundred thousand additional people will have died. |
