I haven't seen this yet but I liked 28 days later. I like how everywhere is abandoned and he walks around central London, and how the soldiers lured anyone who survived into a false sense of security.
| quote: | | I liked this very much. Zombie movies kick ass. And these zombies ran around like Olympic athletes, you don't around with that. They weren't zombies though, right? Just a virus that made them crazy, yes? |
The rage virus or something along them lines. It took something like a minute to 30 seconds I remember for the virus to totally over run a human so it spread like wildfire. Them things could give Carl Lewis a run for his money.
| quote: | | I felt really bad for the dad, though. |
He was well unlucky, if it wasn't for them crows. |

28 days later was just a classic. It was so well directed and it showed how england can be so beautiful if there werent anyone around.
The whole scene where they were travelling to Manchester and looking and the horses and brian eno's- an ascent was used as background music =
GENIUS! |

The best bit imagery wise was when his woken up from the coma exited the hospital all the once packed streets of London are deserted, it's so eerie it's untrue.
Will certainly check out this sequel. I'm not expecting much as a lot sequels especially when it comes to horror films tend to be pants. |

Don't have real high hopes for this one, the 1st was an absolute classic and will be hard to even just equal. |

| To both the last posts... I heard someone say that 28 Weeks Later is to 28 Days Later as Aliens was to Alien, and I think that is a great parallel. Both sequels take a low-budget, distinct concept and amp the hell out of it. However, the 28 Weeks Later director (Fresnadillo) really seems to simply be mimicking Danny Boyle's style whereas James Cameron truly brought his own style to Aliens. That said, Fresnadillo does a hell of a job parading as Danny Boyle. He incorporates many of the same short, chaotic shots during the violent scenes with indie-rock expertly blended in. And, to be perfectly honest, the character's stories for the first half or so is really well written, much better than anything written into 28 Days Later IMO. I would be shocked if someone enjoyed 28 Days Later and did not enjoy 28 Weeks Later. |

| If you don't go in expecting 28 Days Later 2, it's alright, but it's not in the same spirit as the first one, so if that's what you have in your head, it'll ruin the movie, 'cuz it's more Holywooded up, less isolated, and less gritty than the first. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not groundbreaking. It's a very good 'meh' in my books. A solid 3/5. |

Go see it, it's good. Despite everything you know about sequels - and horror movie sequels - it's very good.
Don't expect the exact same things you love about 28 Days Later. Expect it to take what you loved about the first, and take them in new directions.
Expect to see a whole lot more of the infected.
Expect to see the military in new ways.
Expect to see some brutal gore, and some brutal moments, character-wise. |
