We all buy the big floor filler and epic tracks, but what are some really good not-amazing but incredibly useful songs for a DJ?
The opening tracks, the build-up tracks, the conversion tracks.
Just start naming the good ones you can think of please. |

From the nights out I've had, there are certain tunes which you can get away with which are trance, but a commercial crowd should enjoy them. Cos obviously your job as a DJ is to entertain, so if you get stuck with a cheesy crowd, you might want to try some tunes that are easier for such people to identify with, yet still remaining faithful to trance. Some examples:
Ferry Corsten - Punk (I think the Cosmic Gate remix is best, but check out Kid Viscous mix, extended mix and original mix too).
Marco V Simulated
Marco V - Godd
Cosmic Gate - Fire Wire (I believe this made the charts, but is still good trance. A wide range of crowds will appreciate this. The Club mix and Scot Project mixes are best).
Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Scot Project mix). (Nice hard tune, with some nice breakdowns and buildups too. Personally I like anything by Scot Project.)
Future Force - Euphoria (EXCELLENT melodic tune. This only came out a month ago, so I've never heard this in a club yet. However, I reckon this will be DEFINITE floor-filler. Download it and you'll see exactly what I mean).
Marc Dawn - Expander (flutlicht mix) (my FAVOURITE tune at the moment. I find it hard to believe anyone couldn't like this)
Kai Tracid - Derb (Derbus) (nice chanting clap-your-hands together type tune. This is very catchy).
Dave 202 - Living on the Edge
Members of Mayday - 10 in 1 (very well known, but big name DJs like Judge Jules still play this to trance crowds, and I've seen commercial crowds go wild to this one too).
Cosmic Gate - Exploration of Space (any remix, they're all good)
Dirt Devils - The Dril (Hennes & Cold remix) (the only good remix of this track IMO, and the least played. It's trancy enough not to piss off trance fans, but also commercial crowds will recognise this tune since it's a commercial one. A good remix of an average tune IMO)
As you can tell these are all well known tracks, which would appease a commercial crowd but are still trance. If there's any you havn't heard, check them out.
However, if you're looking for some slightly less famous tracks, here's a few that I can think of:

I'm looking forward to getting the tune as well! has it been released? Saw it couple of weeks ago as promo but was sold out.
Anyway, I think
Nevada - Touched by the hand is a top tune but not many people seems to have mentioned it. It's got the Push's touch of sound to it. Check it out. |
