Especially those who just go there to read slides and don't explain themselves in an interesting way. If someone texts me and I need to answer, why the hell not? Are we supposed to leave the class for that? I don't see it as rude personally. If I stop giving attention to the teacher for 1 minute, it doesn't mean I disrespect him/her.

Think what you want, but it IS rude.

Then if they don't ing like it, they shouldn't go to class. The hell is wrong with you people? Your parents must be real gems.

i did use to play football manager in my laptop during some classes last semester. THAT was disrespectful :p

I agree with J. pie, if you don't like the teacher/class or just plain can't pay attention for a few hours... don't go.

I admit that at times I had a hard time listening to a 2 hour lecture in the early morning but I doodled while taking notes, doodling just helped. If I got a text I'd either answer back quickly (only if it was very important) or just get back to them after class.

Laptopers...

They're pretty rude when playing games and MSNing all class. It's like your paying grands just to do what you do at home, dickwads.

if they aren't bothering the class I say go at it!

I regurlaly attend lectures at a local art university ( which I just got accepted too yay :p ) and there's also people doing their homework for other classes and people sketching in their books ( the lecturer sometimes lol ) .... and me I'm the only person on my phone but I am actually taking notes !

Just because I'm on a laptop or texting somebody, doesn't mean I'm not listening, If I think it's important I'll pay attention. You can not seriously think that 100% of the stuff that the professor says is important. Christ.

That's not what I said. See, maybe if you paid attention in class, you wouldn't have a problem with reading comprehension. ;)

Perhaps you have problems with comprehension. You said "Then if they don't ing like it, they shouldn't go to class." And I responded by basically saying, no I don't like it, but some of the stuff is important and if I don't go I'll miss it. And for unimportant stuff I'll just be on my laptop.

Would you like me to break it down further for you?

do you mostly take classes that pertain to nursing? I know a lot of the ones that doze off in my class are the ones that are not majoring in psych. So it is kinda understandable as to why they dont care at all. now in a core class (hehe) they should all be paying attention, along with upper division courses.

but if its intro, bleh, sleep away. just dont make any noises.

It's more annoying when people play music through their phone or have some ty r&b ringtone.

People who text loads are plain annoying anyway. Make a call it's a hundred times easier and more practicial.

yeah i bring my laptop to class all the time, but not just to around
i'm taking polisci 110
and holy , this professor is a jackass
he wastes the first 15 minutes of every class (i keep track of when he actually starts talking about something relavent cause one of my friends didn't believe me), and after that i'm literally typing as fast as i can just to keep up with the notes he has up on the projector (on average i'm usually around 80-90 wpm)
and the great thing is sometimes he'll talk about one thing while something completely different is up on the board. and he expects us to know both

other classes i'll check my email or something if the professor's going over something i know well, but other than that just taking notes

also i sit in the very back for all those classes, and in one music class i sit in the front for i don't even open my laptop

The does that have to do with what I said?

You don't even understand your own words? LoL.

Nowhere was I even suggesting that listening to the teacher had anything to do with the relevance of what they were saying. So no, I don't have problems with comprehension.

Every class is nursing related, yes. We only ever take ONE liberal arts class in 4 years.

Anyways, I'm not talking about listening/paying attention because the material is important. I'm talking about a general level of courtesy and respect for the teacher, your peers, and the classroom atmosphere.

Ugh, whatever...no sense trying to explain it to you guys.
