P.S. And if it DOES come up to 300k...just buy her a house instead :tongue2

thanks!

if he charges 300k that...i think i would need the money more than he does lol. Somehow I don't think my mother will be having a party with Chus and Ceballos and shirtless gay men in her rec room. I don't love her that much.

I have a hookup at Boutique Electronic who would give you a good price too. :)

Here's what my gf says...

Hey Jay! So I end up finding the guy's business card but then I realized it was actualy a company that does commercial installations and not residential...so i did a little search and came up with this one brosseau.qc.ca...and you can also check cedia.net which is the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association where you can enter your postal code and find other companies like brosseau

links

http://www.cedia.net/

hope this helps!

I'll do it :thepirate

On a serious note though, since it sounds like you care more about the shelving, why not just look for a contractor w/ a vocation in cabinetry?

And since this seems like your moms living room and not a home theater room, well... it's not like the room needs to be acoustically tuned and what not, so it seems like it's only a matter of routing a few cables and connecting them...

In terms of screen quality there are many brands to choose from but id defenatly suggest something by Aquos Samsung or LG, dont let anyone push plasma on you, its a dead technology that will just not exist in 3 years, HDTV LCDS are soo much better quality and the retailers know that if they dont get rid of their plasma inventory they will be stuck with it soon.
You want to go 1080p, not 1080i wich stands for interlaced wich means "compressed image" although all the HDTV service providers dont support full 1080p yet (Bell Videotron Direct TV) when it does become available you will see the difference and be happy that you paid the little extra. Now another thing to watch out for, ask the sales guy when hes suggesting/pushing models on you, what version of HDMI interface the screen support, HDMI is the standard connector containing a video signal and audio signal and as of yet is the only way to get full quality resolution on the screen. There are different versions of this connection (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) the differences are the amount of bandwith they have (the amount of information that can pass at a given time, this become important when your looking at Blueray and HDDVD players because some of the earlyer standards of HDMI will not be able to provide full quality from the disk even though your screen supports it.

By keeping this in mind and asking the right questions, you should be able to get something thats great quality and not be taken for a ride and end up with a lemon, if you have any questions on it Jay, let me know ;)

interlaced doesnt mean compressed

its when the frame is drawn with every second line at twice the frame rate as progressive.

better for motion

you want something good anf, buy whatever you find with a GENNUM VXP sticker on it, that means it includes my company's image processing chip, which is currently the best quality out there.
