As discussed previously in a thread I can no longer locate, I would reach out to Euphonic to see if we can bring them here to NYC. This is their response:
Hi Christopher,
We currently work on a tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our label euphonic.
"Founded in late spring of 1997 by producers Ralph Kyau & Steven Moebius Albert,
the imprint has built up an impressive catalogue of music. The focus of which has
always remained on supporting and developing quality artists, over the long term.
Virtually from its inception, Euphonic was embraced by the trance DJ elite.
The label has consistently been champed by Paul van Dyk (his favourite label of 2006)
and was Ferry Corsten's in 2005." (See the attachment for the full story)
We offer for this tour our artists :
Kyau & Albert (Dj Mag #48), Ronski Speed (Dj Mag #87), Stoneface & Terminal,
Marc Marberg.
Available dates are from May 26th - June 3rd and from July 19th - July 29th.
Please get in touch with the dates and details!
Regards,
Marco

Hey man, what's up? I'm not speaking for the others, of course, but like I've said other times, it's very much easier said than done. I get emails like this from every agency, everyone's a) trying to get a gig in NY, and b) trying to fill up their calendar with any date they can get, it's not something unique. That being said, they don't understand the New York trance scene is and are not willing to make certain compromises. The point is, we would all be excited to see any of these artists, oh yeah, I know I would. There would be twice the amount of posts as the Talla 2XLC night, but on the outside of this message board, it means nothing. There's another several hundred people who would need to be as excited in order to just, at the VERY LEAST, break even, and aside from Armin and PVD parties, it's tough to achieve that kind of widespread buzz. The fee they'd be willing to negotiate is not a negotiation at all, unfortunately. These agencies are all out to make money, just like everyone else, and understandably so, however, relative to the excitement a KvA night would make outside of Trance Addict, to pay for their booking, flightshare, hotel for two nights for each one of the two (most agencies require 4-5 stars in the contract, I'm sure you know how much even a 3 star hotel costs for one night in NYC), not to mention the restaurant of their choice (also almost always part of the contract), it gets expensive, and in examples like this with a two-DJ team, it doesn't look promising. Of course, we can stay idealistic and do it for the love of trance and the scene, but unfortunately, it's the piling demands, costs, expectations, and terms of their contracts (not KvA specifically, just most DJs in general) that is the exact opposite of doing anything "for the love of trance and the scene". I won't get too much into detail because it's wrong to say such things out in the open, but I have had a contact of mine get me info on booking Ronski, and he was asking for more than Talla and Victor were COMBINED and not fluctuating, so my answer to that is no, for the time being. I wouldn't discount it for the future, I'm a huge fan of Ronski, one of my favorites but it's something that could only be done with a certain understanding on the part of the DJ (or the booking agency, who are probably the bigger culprits).
This is why I am always happy to include Martin Roth in my plans once again for the future, and it's the understanding I'm sure Made Event has with a lot of their recurring talent (the Mr. C's and Loco Dice's and Markus Schulz's, etc.). It's a tough city for trance nowadays, many people noted the young crowd on Friday's party, but the fact is, it is that crowd that knows nothing about Talla or Vic (or in Made's case, Second Sun and Sander Van Doorn) that can make these bookings happen. True die-hard and knowledgable fans of trance music have dwindled and can't be counted on alone to fill a room or to make the parties successful and consistently talent-filled. |

very good post dj eco
the ny trance scene has deff slowed down besides the 4 big guys
id say like 2002 threw 04 it was at its high with underground trance djs
if u look at the tallent arc and avalon were brining in it wassent really the big guys, and most of the parites were doing well numbers wise and there was a lil bit of a vibe
05 went downhill
06 kinda the same besides above and beyond comeing to nyc for the first time
and i think 07 will be the same not that promising
the nyc trance scene is not what it used to be or what it should be for such a great clubbing city
its a shame :( |

You could probably get the numbers up for parties like this if you did some more gimmicky type things. Hired smokin hot dancers, get sponsored open bars, and just plain better advertising (not focusing on the DJ).
If you want these guys in the city you don't necessarily need to inform people about trance, but rather get people interested in the venue . There are soo many places that get filled up without named DJ's. It's because of the environment. I'm not trying to give you guys a marketing course, but focusing on the trance aspect will never fill in the club. |
