Hey all,
Just looking for advice on where to go on Thursday nights in San Diego. It doesn't even have to be trance-specific, just wondering which clubs/restaurants/lounges have something going on versus those that are dead. Would like advice for (A) downtown and (B) from central to north county (ie Mission Beach or Solana Beach would be ok, but I'm not driving to El Cajon or San Ysidro)
I should add, no country music. :p
Just looking for someplace to go and have fun with my SO, and have no idea where the hot spots are for a Thursday night (or if they even exist). Thanks! |

Thursday nights at THIN on 5th street (near E. St.) usually has a good crowd and good music (electro, house, progressive). not sure about this week but next week Lavelle will be spinning and it's usually a fun night - my usual spot
Confidential on the corner of 4th and E usually has house/hip hop playing - more of a 'hot spot' but plenty of people - not really my bag
further down on 4th, Aubergine has 2 or 3 rooms of difn't music but is definitely a trendy spot - i go here with people who are hip-hop retarded, then go to the side room for house
good luck / have fun:D |

Ahh, excellent tips, thanks man!
There's also HoB, some guy (group?) called "Mute Math" playing next Thurs also. The sound samples sound pretty good (rock/pop music).
What time do things get going on Thursdays? I presume it's earlier than Fri/Sat evenings, where it's somewhat dead until 11+..?
And one more annoying question - I also presume no covers on Thursday? Any of these places run drink specials all night or is Thursday strong enough they don't need to do that?
Thanks again! |

Finally made it down to the gaslamp yesterday (May 3rd). Started at Croce's and enjoyed David Patrone singing old school tunes (sinatra and what not), which my wife dug. Eventually hiked up and down 4th trying to figure out where Aubergine was, until I deduced it must be the place with no name outside. :) So in we went..
I definitely liked the music inside, but there really weren't too many people there and absolutely no one on the dance floor, so we sat around for a few minutes to see if it was going to change and then split. Is that pretty typical for a Thursday night at about 11 PM? |

It really depends on the night.. but most places have around a $5 cover. Thin was off the hook again! |

Beachcomber and the Pennat in mission beach is always poppin with college students on thursdays. They are right next to each other. No Cover, 1 dollar beers, 3 dollar drinks. Comber has a dance floor, pennat is just basically a bar but with a pool table. Thats where Im usually at on thursdays if I dont head up to Tentation in newport. |
