So, I'm on antidepressants now, switched from Wellbutrin to Prozac 'cause the Wellbutrin gave me tummy problems. What sort of experience do you guys have with Prozac/SSRIs?

(In short a lot of is going on in my life right now and I could use a temporary boost. I know that a lot of people out there are quick to criticize antidepressant medications, but I've been struggling with pretty bad depression my whole life and I'm finally opting to give them a shot, at least, for the short term.)

When I was on Prozac, my sex drive went down.
Paxil, I couldn't cum. Also, when I missed one dose, i was nauseous and dizzy and ting my brains out.
I never had any side effects with Wellbutrin.

Do you have a beach near you?
Abercrombie
I only get those prescribed to me each fall to deal with SAD.

Yes, I experienced the same effects as you with Prozac last year. This winter, I tried Effexor, and it was even worse. Believe it or not, my doc actually gave me a viagra sample box to counter the effects Effexor had. Even viagra didn't work.

I always get off of anti-deps every March. Next winter I plan not to at all. I'm glad my issue is just seasonal.

Unfortunately, your symptoms are typical and normal, and it sux. Wellbutrin seemed to be the least invasive in the bedroom, and it's also good if you want to quit smoking. It's not as effective as the others for me, but better than nothing. Good luck.

unless you're on some sort of stupid dose on paxil you should be able to miss about 3-4 days before the dizzyness comes and another 2 or 3 before other symptoms. As for the first, sometimes it does happen yeah, just sods law

Nope..

I tried Effexor before and stopped cold turkey (ran out and didn't feel like getting a refill) and it was kind of a nightmare. And, it didn't really do anything to improve my life anyway.

All my friends warned me about Paxil being really harsh and kinda ty, so I shyed away from it. Was considering Zoloft or Lexapro but Prozac was the cheapest.

Paxil is the devil, itll ruin your life :\

I was on lexapro for a year because I had dropped out of school and had no life plans and was just drinking and playing video games.

Then I get a great job and Ive officially started my career so a month ago I quit sleeping pills and anti-depressants cold turkey and have focused on continuing to learn and bolster my skills. Im finishing and independent project right now for a company near me that ill be getting paid well for and I have a long term career lined up.

Ive felt zero need to go back on them as long as I work out and be productive.

Not drinking helps :\

Ive been on and off for years (once every 2 years or so I seem to need it for a month or so) but this is the first time ive taken them for more than a month )i hate psychiatric drugs!( and it definitely helped when I needed it. I dont think its a long term solution though

if i missed one 10mg dose of Lexapro id have the same thing. Id be walking home and just feel WEIRD and then id be like oh yeah...was supposed to take it 5 hours ago.

quitting was pretty nightmarish too. Went cold turkey though because I dont want to "wean" myself off something like a bitch.

As far as the bad reviews of Paxil go, both my mom and her father recently struggled with serious depression. They've both gone on Paxil and have been ace since, so I dunno.

Paxil works wonders. Miss a dosage, or quit it cold turkey and it is hell. I was on that freshman year of college for about 5 months. It worked wonders.... but I did not want to live by the pill for the rest of my life so I stopped cold turkey. Worst 3 days of my life. I was on it not because of depression but for panic attacks. I am not sure how the dosage varies, as I don't remember how much I took.

why are so many americans on anti-depressants?

Yeah, my mom was doing great for a while so her doctor wanted to lower the dosage a bit to try and ween her off of it. She hit rock bottom again so they brought the dosage back up.
