| Ive been out of this for a while, only found out today that elections are taking place (finally had to read my copy of fridays financial paper while waiting for a friend to show up for a drink - she was 45 minutes late and there was an article about france in there, and completely off topic here what i read in there made me so happy that i didnt invest in the bosnian stock market, if i did i would have pulled out most of my hair today, but back on topic now) so you might have said this before but who was you favourite to win, and if he or she didnt make it to round two which one of there two is the lesser evil? |

Hah, exactly what I thought - Sarkozy will now Battle Royale :thepirate

Although I don't know much about these people, Marie-Ségolène Royal is the lesser evil, isn't she? |

| Conservatives seem to have a fairly good lead there. Have to be happy with an 85% turn out though, very impressive |

so yeah to me the lesser evil would be segolene royal
both of the 2 candidates are agreeing with the fact they want some change in this country.....some reforms but the views on the candidates about making this change is totally opposed
i might be wrong but i think sarkozy tried to so far to get most of the votes of people who would usually vote for the extreme right's party (Le Pen's party)
so he wants to re establish some authority in this country....but i dont think it's by violating some our freedoms or by creating new laws punishing more people or by installing more radars on the roads...that the insecurity feeling or the people will feel happier.....
i would say as well the fact most of his circle of acquaintances is composed of some of the most powerful people of france, compagnies presidents ....in industry or even channels TV is bothering me....because i mean then where goes the freedom of speech or the freedom of expression its own expressions , if we are all under the threat to get punished?
a fact which annoyed me was and it was on the newspapers some militants in bordeaux from the UDF (bayrou's party) were giving papers in the streets ...seems like it was not authorized or whatever ....the militants of sarkozy (UMP) passed by...and like 30 minutes later , the militants of UDF got fined by the police
denouncement is something which are bringing back awful memories , from the WWII .....and i certainly dont want that it becomes a new habit in here
on the other hand i would say segolene royal (PS) has indeed some great ideas....but to me kind of utopic ....of course we all dream and especially us the young generation to have some good career's perspectives....and all
but i doubt that a lot of her goals will happen and simply gonna be realized because we have a huge deficit....
to have a woman as the first president ever would be a big step and would prove as well the society is ready to make some changes.....
unfortunately im fearing that her politics will fail because then again it's a matter of means....money and a real will to change and make things go better
i know i can sound pessimistic about the candidates but ....it has been for such a long time most of the people are established in here...the same ministers which come and then go....and then come back
and like a lot of people im losing my illusions ....indeed we need some serious changes ....and i think the whole france is starting to realize it....
but then i would say for most of us...none of the candidates which were on the lists really satisfied us |
