Major hard drive problem

| I don't know how but my aux hard drive is not being recognized by my system and I have way too much stuff to lose on there. Is there any way to recover the data without setting up the drive again (aka losing EVERYTHING?) Thx in advance... |

Not too sure what you mean by 'auxillary' hard drive. How is it not being recognised?
If it's a case of XP not booting, then get a copy of BartPE onto CD, load up the OS and drag everything onto an external HDD.
But I've probably mis-read the entire problem... |

Well, it's on this system and is an additional hard drive. It's a Serial ATA drive.

| its probably on its last legs...has it got S.M.A.R.T. abilities? run it thru the bios and see if it passes? or if it doesnt recognise it at all, then u are pretty much ed. |

Internal drive. And how do I check the bios for it?
