Dumbest idea I have heard, ever.

^^^Agree.

You're meant to cool your skin. Heating it up just amplifies the problem.

heh ok whatever you guys say, u guys can be in pain from ur sunburn while Im enjoying the next day out in the sun

Not even about cooling, imo it's about keeping it moist so it doesn't become soooo dried out. Heat will make it dry out more as Mezzir said.

I get sunburns almost every year, you don't see me burning my head with water just to relieve me of my pain. You go ahead and burn your scalp more with scolding hot water, not only will your body be burnt by the sun but it will be burned by water as well, while I am rubbing some aloe-vera cream on myself.

i've been a lifeguard for 7 years
trust me, how showers are among the worst things you can do
it'll make it feel better temporarily, but it'll last faaaaaaar longer and it'll just get worse from there
moisture is key, both applying aloe or w/e and just staying hydrated, which is something most people overlook

Ahhh! I see. When I have a sun burn that has creped it's way into my hair line and or whole scalp, I take a shower with the least amount of warm that I can stand. Anything hurts ,brushing ,combing, putting a hat on/taking it off, touching it..SUCKS.

cool shower IMMEDIATELY followed by a thick layer of aloe, let it sit for a lil then wipe any off if you're putting clothes over that area of skin
then make sure you stay hydrated and keep reapplying aloe every few hours

OH I know! Years and years of sunburns have taught me the daily drills. lol

Actually, I've heard of this technique. I've also heard of this one: Take a large sledgehammer, and raise it as high above your head as you can muster. Then, allow gravity and a little elbow grease to carry it in a downward parabola directly toward your big toe. No joke, you won't feel the pain from the sunburn for days!

Err...you should avoid the sun if you've been sunburned. Let your skin recover.

And ffs, learn to use sunscreen (suncream) (You too Frenchie ;))
