The Culprits, Mighty, and Nitewise are very proud to bring you an exclusive appearance by Germany's Ame on Friday, May 5th.
Meaning "soul" in French, Ame's musical influences are far-reaching, with Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hanfirmly at the root, and Detroit techno, deep house, and broken beat sensibilities blended into their production work. Their sound has caught everyone's attention in dance music, and remix requests have been pouring in from taste makers like the Truby Trio, Roy Ayers, and Jazzanova.
Ame is Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, who met six years ago at Kristian's record shop "Plattentasche" and have since formed a unique production duo that continues to stand above the crowd with each new release. It was at last year's Winter Music Conference when Danny Tenaglia dropped their single "Rej" that Ame really came into the limelight here in the States, and the track went on to become one of the most talked about tunes of 2006. Ame are among the elite stable of Sonar Kollektiv, one of the hottest labels in Europe today, as well as being signed to Innervisions and Defected. They released their first mix CD ("Mixing") late last year, showcasing their diverse taste with cuts from Carl Craig, Derrick May, Laurie Spiegel, and Johnny L, and have been rocking dancefloors from Berlin to Miami with their captivating DJ sets.
