yes, im very competitive. i think it has to do with ego, and my will to be better then most, in select things. of course grammar i dont care about but when it comes to sports...very competitive.

If winning is somehow going to effect my happiness, (made a bet, going to get me a higher position etc.) then yes, I am very competitive.

If it is just for the sake of competition, then I couldn't really care either way. I mean, sure, I like to win, but I am not going to be nearly as disappointed if I lose as I would be if I was feeling competitive about it.

that reminds me (even though it's the opposite of what you're saying) of that Titleist commercial in which Phil Mickleson said, "I hate losing more than I enjoy winning," which pretty much sums up why he's such a head case and took so damn long to start winning.

I don't know about competitive is the right word, I like to be successful though by my own standards and I'm something of a compulsive perfectionist, which essentially means I'm tough on myself. I do what I do to the best of my abilities and seek to improve it.
As for the 'must have' X car or X clothes and the like to be popular or give the image of success to others, no. I'll wear the proverbial suit that fits if it means making money, but I'm much happier with humbler origins and appearance.

That's not really being competitive, though, since it's not the product of any abilities or skill--directly, anyways. Anybody with that amount of money could buy that stuff, unless, of course, it's something extremely rare that requires some work and/or negotiation or other such skills to acquire. When I think of competition, I think of things which are entirely under my control and in which one is considered to be more or less successful due to a combination of talent, effort, and, at times, some small amount of luck.

there is this weird thing. i get 'territorial' at times. i guess that's not the best word, but i jump into a defensive mode from time to time for the oddest reasons.

for instance, when amongst other DJs, i share my music and whatever thoughts i have. however, when i have a secret weapon track i'm cherishing lately, and want to keep it all to myself, and someone busts it out as well, it's like i feel i have to 'beat' them somehow. it feels personal.

i normally react quickly telling myself to stop being a retard, but still, it bugs me.

I think I'm successful through a combination of some talent, lot of effort and some luck, it was mostly bloody minded determination to know what I wanted and setting out to get it.
Basically, I didn't want to be middle class, I didn't want to be 'getting by' and I didn't want to have to be just be working for someone else for the rest of my life.
So when the chance came I choked it for all it was worth and worked my ass off ever since, risks, many, but that's the chance you take sometimes to improve things, working the odds though in your favour.

Yes...

I'm competitive when there's nothing at stake so that when there is something at stake, I'll win.
