Tiesto and engineers....

...the difference between his use and Sasha's use of them. To me, seems almost identical. This board seems to reflect them almost as opposites.
Do they both share a heightened imagination but through whatever constraints decide they need aid in the studio to raise the quality - that being, realising artistic visions that are otherwise difficult.
What is the difference between the two. Is it purely their intended audience?
Why do members of this board blind themselves to Sasha's use, yet at the same time devour Tiesto time and time again as it fluctuates in varying degrees of forum-based fashionable.
Debate? |

Cause Tiesto is the biggest DJ in the world and people like to knock people who are at the top - it's a way of life.
Whereas Sasha is definately a big DJ but keeps himself low-key and out of the spotlight. |

Simply put - yes. |

Because it is of no relevance wether Tiesto uses an engineer or not.
Its common for about every group in the world to use sound engineers and producers to finish their music, I dont see what is the big deal with Tiesto using one, you want him to write the music, mix and master the tracks, which he will spend 3 times more in doing ?
Just because trance can be made using only one guy and a computer, does that mean everyone should do so ?
Tiesto is an artist, comparable with for instance a singer, or a band.. and 99% of them uses engineers to finish their music.. its just ing common when u have the resources to do so.
Sasha uses people who produces music with him, cause he dont often get the sound he wants, thus needs help.. and in Sasha`s case, thats brilliant cause thats what makes his music so damn good.
Ive been listening to Tiesto since West & Storm, Allure, Kamaya Painters and all that.. he wasnt known at the time so the music he made was definitely his own.. i might add that i think Tiesto`s music sucks, and i stopped listening to him since the first album he made.
So this is all an objective point of view. |

AVB is bigger and Tiesto sucks. He should get run over by one of those suburban trains of his. |

You may think that AVB is a better DJ but you can't say that he is bigger than Tiesto. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Tiesto fanboy but.
A lot of people who aren't even into dance music have heard of Tiesto whereas there's a lot of people who ARE into dance music and they've never heard of AVB. |

Discogs would argue that even those early productions were 'assisted' just check the creditations ;)
Difference being, nowadays it has become the trend or the norm, to actually clearly thank the engineer, in the past this was more some secret mutual consent that they freely gave their skills to the artist in question. |

| It isn't just Sasha or Tiesto. Most of the big DJs have a reliable production partner for when they want to make music. Classic examples: Digweed and Nick Muir, Oakey and Steve Osbourne... other jocks such as Sven Vath have used notable co-producers down the years. |

Perhaps (just an opinion here) people know about oakey, sasha, digweed etc using the engineers and they're not really bothered as the dj'ing skill of those has made up for it (yeah oakey can be bad but that's another discussion) whereas some people with tiesto probably think he does everything himself.
The actual act of using an engineer is not a bad one. Check Armins tunes with one opposed to those without. The quality difference is easily noticable. |

the point the poster was trying to make though is that people bag out tiesto for using one and not "making his own" tunes while sasha doesn't get any heat for doing the same thing :) |

| There is another difference - Sasha and his engineers are making original melodies (i'm not familiar with their samples etc)... Tiesto and his crew are rehashing Bach, Barber and other well known compositions... |

Well there's always that Sasha - Xpander / Spooky - Little Bullet thing.. although if we consider that the original track was actually produced by the engineer maybe that's not so bad. :p |
