Progressive in Leicester

Just want 2 know if there are any progressive (or trance for that matter)fans in the Leicester area??! Its a bit dead for me!

So in an attempt to get a bit of this style out into the domain Im going to promote my brand new radio show(!). It will focus on chilled-out house+progressive. Maybe a lil bit of trance 2

Its a student radio thing, so if u go to DMU or Leicester Uni be sure 2 check in. There needs to be a bit of a scene here:)

Check www.demonfm.co.uk for all the info.

Its on this Sunday from 5-6pm. 97.5 FM in and around Leicester or online for everyone else in the world...

ps. yes I know promoting Radio Shows is frowned upon in here, but I am genuinely interested in any Leicester scene if it does exist.

Cheers:D

The Underground dance scene in Leicester is , with the exception of Liquid, Fordidden/Nailed (good music but always empty) and the odd psy-trance night at the Attik once in a blue moon.

Does Liquid do underground dance?? I thought it was a cheesey mega-club with foam parties and the like!
Havnt been 2 Forbidden/Nailed so I'll research that.
Yeah Ive heard about the psy at the Attik but you're right its definately not a regular occurance.
Cheers:)

im a student in leicester. i did a show on demon but just a one off thing. there are quite a few very small, specialist nights around whre you find anything from psytrance, ambient, electro acoustic, electro, tech house and dub step etc, but not much in terms of trance. they have crasher classics at liquid sometimes, not been yet but ive heard its pretty pants. for a nice little techy house night check out kazbar (downstairs bit in nomad) on friday nights. not sure if they still do it but there used to be a night there called break the mould which was quite cool. or for a very small but friendly little psytrance night there is one at the attick sometimes but i forgot what its called. to be honest i dont think there will ever be a healthy trance scene around here because there is too much of it in neighbouring cities such as nottingham, sheffield and birmingham, and the people here just arent into that stuff generally.

Cheers for that Mike, I agree that Leicester is just not a Prog/trance city and won't be one in the foreseeable future, don't know why but there just isn't the interest it seems...
Didnt know u did a DemonFm show, nice one. Its been a really worthwhile venture for me, they have a strong specialist music output.
As for Liquid I am hopefully checking out the Gatecrasher Classics tour there this Sunday, let hope its not wank, at least Parks and Wilson are playing.

O4 is good for the Shivoo nites there, but is near enough empty the rest of the time, despite dirt cheap drinks. Nice music for the most part too.

O4 is alright for going out and getting pissed with your mates, but generally no good in terms of music. they get some decent bands there sometimes and there was one night i went to where they were playing a nice litle selection of stuff over the 4 floors. certainly not the best place to go if you wana hear progressive stuff. i think you might have some luck at places like the attik and kazbar though. just gotta keep an eye on the flyers and stuff.

haven't they been getting paul woolford and people of that ilk?

there seems to be a night called spectrum there which looks quite good but ive not noticed it until now.
