My JP hangs when working in Cubase, it starts making continous sounds.. the only way to make it stop is to turn it off.. this only happens when Cubase is open.
Ive tried working with both MIDI Sync, Tx/Rx edit, Exclusive SW, Progchange off and on.. this happens especially when i turn on the arpegiattor.
Any ideas? |

is the hold button on at the arp?
the very odd time my v station does something like that!
kinda sounds like the release is all the way up but does it when play is stopped!
and like u said i have to turn it of an on a few time to solve the prob!
could be a sequencer problem! i use cubase also. |

Yes, it happens when i press the arp hold button. and it works outside Cubase. |

I have had a very similar problem with a couple of softsynths that get stuck playing a sound.
The only way I've been able to stop it, is to unload/reload the offending instrument from cubase.
(But for me I'm not using an arp when it happens. it just keeps playing the last note I stopped on.)
it might happen once out of every 20 times I sit down to work on something, so I've never really looked any deeper into it.
I wonder if it's a cubase thing, or maybe some sort of a conflict between cubase and some other hardware/software.
It seems these 3 things were in use the last few times it happend;
Cubase SX3 (possibly rewired with LIVE)
E-MU 0404 - sound card
EDIROL PCR-30 - midi controller
Maybe it's ghosts. Turn off you JP and listen closely...
Do you hear any rattling-chains and/or spooky "OOOOoooo"'s & moaning coming from inside? |

It also happens occationally when i dont fiddle with the arp.
I hear ghosts though, but only when the filter is fully opened, so i need to close the filter to make them go away. |

Ghosts are realatively harmless to humans. Just be thankful you dont have a Saw-toothed Zombie. I had one living in my DAW last year. He didn't have a job, and was alwyas late with his share of the rent.
When I'd go to work, I'm pretty sure he was reading my mint-condition limited-edition vintage pornograpy and eating all my food.
Plus I think he was stealing my drugs. |

Sounds like a midi loop problem.
Check out what mysticalninja said.
Either that, or initially try changing the midi track in Cubase so that:
Out: JP-8080
In: IS NOT JP-8080
And does the problem still occur?
A midi loop would be caused by sending say, note data to the JP, and this getting passed back through the JP into Cubase, onto the same midi track that is pointing at Cubase, and then onto the JP etc etc
Hope that makes sense, if yous till have issues; we can see about hooking up on messenger and walking through your problems. |

This may be unrelated but I sometimes get a similar thing in live, when a softsynth will continue playing. Its as though it's sustain phase just keeps going, even though everything's stopped, like I'm holding the key down. Usually I just turn the instrument off and on and that fixes it.
I believe that it has something to do with the instrument not recieving a release signal or a "note off" signal, which causes it to sustain the note. So make sure that any notes in the sequencer finish, so if you have a loop, then the note finishes before it restarts, sorta hard to explain but yeah.... |
